I must say that I personally didn't have alot to do with Stevie when he was in Brisbane. But all the same I saw him enough to know that he will have a hard time putting the past seasons behind him, iam talking about The incerdent at Simon's 21st and other such events. A little birdy told me that one of Stevie's lady friends were going to change him, i was thinking good luck love as I am not confident that anyone except himself could achieve that, and even then he might not succeed in doing so.I love him and all but really!!
I was wondering about your opinions on this topic, will Stevie be able to make a fresh start at the Saints???

well, stevie was a huge asset to our team .. every time he went for the ball it was never half hearted. He gave his all every time he ran to a contest .. and while he didn't have the brillance of say, Darryl White ... his determination was why he was a favourite. does anyone else think his repuation of being a so called misbehaviour was a tad unfair? so i think he'll defintely be fine at the saints .. although i'm wishing he gets homesick and returns the lions (although; i know it's unlikely).
cheers

So what if he got pissed at a 21st and smashed a couple of glass doors.

He did well at Brisbane and he'll do well at the Saints.

Lionsrock_15_26, I was not implying that Stevie wasn't a good footballer for both the Lions/Bears. I was saying that his reputation up here wasn't the best; I wish him all the best in his new ventures at the saints and I hope that he does succed in his vow to make a fresh start at the saints. I remember before the 2000 season reading in the newspaper that both Stevie and Chris Scott both said they wouldn't have a beer until atleast 24 hours after a game, I would like to refresh your memory that The Adelaide game was played on a Saturday Night and the 21st party was the following day and I would assume that it would of started about 6 or 7 o'clock at night, which would of been about 19 hours after the game.

Ghost, I would of thought that being halfway throught of the season not even that, that Stevie would have more sence (but we are talking about Stevie Lawrence aren't we.) than to put his hand through a plate glass door even though he most probably wouldn't of known what the hell he was doing. But having a good time is one thing but being intoxicated before even arriving at Blacky's 21 is another.

The people i felt most sorry for were Ma and Pa Black, Simon and his Brothers and Tarryn.

Stevie Lawrence played a huge role at the club, he was a tough little bugger and always put in 100%, we will no doubt miss him very much.
He may have had a bit of a bad reputation but it wasn't too serious, nothing like that of Adam Heuskus.
I think Steve will settle in to St.Kilda very nicely but hopefully he'll one day return home, we'll certainly miss him at the lions!!
Best of luck Stevie. xoxoxoxox

I think he'll fit into the Saints team pretty well, we all know how talented he is, I wish him all the best..........except against us!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL

Stevie Lawrence was a great guy to have around the club, he was a tough little bugger and always put in 100%.
There's no doubt we will miss him very much.
He may have had a bad reputation but it was nothing compared to that of Adam Heuskus, he just liked to have a bit of fun!!!
Hopefully Steve will one day return back to the Gabba, where he belongs...
It wont be the same without him!!!
I hope he has a terrific future at St.Kilda

the lukester, i know you weren't having a go at stevie and i didn't think i wrote my reply in that sought of context and yes i was aware of the statement he made about his drinking absenstance but as rebecca stated; his incident had far less of an impact than Heuskes, although i'm not saying that i think it's good behavior either
anyhow, i think we all agree in wishing him the best luck and that he was a valued player and will be missed.
cheers
