The removal of the runners and more defensive game plans will the AFL move to a 2 or 3 minute time out model?
Broadcasters always love their pound of flesh.
Coaches would love an opportunity to break up momentum.

Far from advocating this move, just seems like a logical progression if you wanted to find a way to get a nice 3 minute grab for the ads to happen

God I hope not. That's the main thing that s**ts me re: American sports, that there's 2-3 minutes patches where nothing happens.

Bad idea.

Also, it isn't clear that rotations cause congestion. Players who are too tired to run and spread are not going to fight congestion for you.

2-3 hours if it's the NFL.

Basketball has got slightly better in this regard but the last 5 minutes of a close game will still take 20-30.

At the same time lets introduce a round ball & a net for the goals, a couple of hurdles in the midfield & pit stops where the players have their boots changed by a pit crew?
