Hey guys,

I see the membership priority window is drawing to a close.
Do you think this will go to General Admission?

no still tickets and will be going to general admission now by the looks of it.

Discussion on 6PR this morning that the AFL are apparently going to be taking a $5million hit on ticket sales due to Bris/Port not making it through to the GF, so are having to discount tickets massively to try and sell it out now.

Makes sense RE Brisbane, though not Port - wouldn't Richmond/ vs Brisbane have been the optimal outcome for the AFL?

Yeah this is not true, at least as of today. They had presold 14,000 seats already before the weekend and only have 16,000 left for members/general public. Richmond and Geelong member tickets went on sale at full price from 9am-4pm today. That probably leaves 5,000 or so seats left for the general public (we'll find out exactly how many later tomorrow probably) which will also be full price whenever they go on sale.

If there's still some of the 5000 odd tickets left on thurs/fri then I would expect them to discount tickets but even then that isn't that large of a loss.

Triple J news reported earlier that the AFL won’t seek to increase the capacity for the GF so looks like still just the 30,000.

Could have had 60k at Optus Stadium, probably an average ticket price of $300. That's about $18 million in revenue.

Will be struggling to get a third of that at the Gabba.

They'll fill the 30k one way or another but there will be discounted or comped tickets to ensure it happens.

Egg on the faces of the AFL.

Big loss in the context of a season where every dollar counts.

That's plain embarrassing. 33 years in QLD and can't even sell out a 30k capacity once in a lifetime Grand Final.
If Victorians were allowed to travel, this would have sold out in minutes.

Realistically though, how many Richmond/Geelong/AFL members would be in the Brisbane area? It doesn't suprise its going to public.

No they couldn't, moving to stage 5 has been put back 2 months, max 36,000.

They've completely ignored AFL Silver Members (unless you had club support). AFL Gold Members, Richmond and Geelong members have only had access so far.

Ah well. When the Qld CHO was asked on the double standards on why AFL teams, managers, movie stars etc had different rules for covid as opposed to a poor person who couldn’t go to her dads funeral her response was. “ afl and celebrities bring in large amounts of revenue for the qld economy. I hope the stadium is half full and the qld government losses a heap of revenue
