If Sam Mitchell comes back to Victoria after only 2 years in WA, after we let him go early and for nothing to help set up his family for the start of his kids schooling in Perth, am I right to be just a little bit pissed?
If he is packing up already it must be a great offer. I read an article that his wife had been keen on move there (WA) for a while.

Pretty sure Richardson would feel pretty threatened with a move like this. The drums are already beating for him and I doubt Mitch would be ready yet if Ricahrdson was sacked mid season next year for instance. Not a nice job position to be in looking back over your shoulder.

Has this moron never heard of contract front ending. The HFC has been preparing for this trade period for two years. Please move on. Don’t give this crap credence. Niall is incredulous. If he thinks we have only $800k available he should move to Mars.
Things like this being said are getting my hopes up for a massive trade/ free agency period.

Senior Assistant to Richardson at St Kilda is what I've heard. Looking to be a big shake up at Moorabbin at seasons end

It wouldn’t hurt for him to go from 2 extremely well run clubs with fairly good overall facilities to probably the worst club.
An eye-opener for him

I'm all for Sloane coming in. Mitchell needs support ASAP. JOM might be able to help out next year and Shiels can defenitely cover him defensively but we need someone else to help share the load.
And brings us resilience, in case Mitchell genuinely does end up with leather poisoning one day soon & has to miss a week...

Nope Mitchell was going to pull the pin anyway, took the pay day to go west and good for him. He had lost all interest in playing footy, if a big offer comes up which sets up his coaching dreams I'd wish him nothing but the best.

As romantic as it is, I can't see Mitchell rejoining Hawthorn for a number of years. A) To get some actual experience as an assistant coach, Hawthorn is professional enough to put runs on the board ahead of sentimentality; and B) I cannot see him coming back to contribute to a team that still includes all the players he had such great success with, it would make it very hard to innovate.

Could come back to Boxhill to head coach and Newman gets promoted to a senior position, has the runs on the board and would work out well for all.

Can Sammy earn $300k as Head Coach of Box Hill?

Not sure of the numbers in any coaching role, but I reckon money would have to come into it somewhere along the line.

well worst case scenario we lose Cyril, Roughie, Silk and Birchall you could get your wish!
Almost the core of our premiership players if you also add Frawley / Poppy to that list. Only leaves Bruest/Gunston as stars with recent additions of JOM/Mitchell/Sicily. I can see why people think we need a mini rebuild.

Don't think money would be a big factor for Mitchell as a whole, hasn't been to date(was seriously underpaid during our flag years more than one would imagine). Being given his own team to coach and mould would be right up his alley and something he would need before handed a senior position.

I'd love to see what he could do at Frankston

He said after about round 3 last season he was more excited about getting his laptop out for his coaching role and wasn’t exactly motivated for training/recovery
Shows where his head was at , good move for both

Did anyone watch On the Couch this week?

Tom Browne reported West Coast have offered Jeremy McGovern 4 years at 800k per season. However, McGoverns management is after 6 years at 1.1million per season.

I can't see us being players in the J.McGovern sweepstakes.

Offer him 5 years at $900,000. Sorted.
