Yes.

Melbourne who are 0-5 against top 8 sides themselves.

Between the pair they have 1 win against top 8 sides in 11 matches (and only because they had to play each other someone had to win or at least draw).

We have 4 wins from 8 matches and are in the fight of our life to make finals. Whoever says the fixture doesn't play a part in where a team finishes on a ladder is either an idiot or lying.
If we hadn't lost to the 16th placed side twice by a combined total of 99 points we'd be currently sitting 3rd now with 2 wins against them.

I reckon a 17 game season and then finals would be better, throw a midseason bye and no end of season bye

have that bye be one round and have an under 18s national carnival televised instead

people are already checking out of this year because their teams are done and some teams haven't even played each other yet
Maybe a positive of shit things like AFL X is that it will help justify this happening...

Just wondering, is there any likelihood of us offering a free agent a 1 year 2mil+ deal (cap space from all the departures) We can reel it back to reasonable from there. There is no way any player is going pass up a deal like that—Guaranteed immediate pay out, nor will any other club have the resources to match that.

Let’s hope we do something constructive with our cap space, not like we can trade it for draft picks.

I’m sure we have flexibility in the cap to pull something off. But the question is, do other clubs? I’d suggest good coast do.

From memory, i understand that a Free Agent deal must be at least two years long and even if you renegotiate the actual payment, the salary cap allocated remains as per the initial deal. This is to stop single year crazy deals like you suggest.

You can't do one year FA deals, two year minimum

Bushrangers, Kings,
Lynch deal to Tigers done.

Gaff being offered 1 mill per year.... Hawks will not go anywhere near that.

Polec 700k per year x 5 years... gulp. Good luck Norf.

Not sure who is left. Perhaps we might sit back, keep clearing more and more space and have a red hot dip at Shiel and Kelly next year.

Polec not coming to us isn't exactly something to get upset about.
