List Mgmt. Will these players make it or break it?

This whole thread is why we are in for a good year.

Can anyone remember a time where we could point at the 9 guys on this list + taylor, ryan, edwards + others I might not have thought of and think "those guys are pretty good and should get a shot".

We have great depth and all of these guys not even in the 22.

I suspect some of them, if not in the team regularly at the year end are pretty good trade material.

I really can't fault our list management other than the ruck situation.
Dawson was an absolute gift, and Rankine is the elite kid we wanted from well before the draft. To get him back was a master-stroke both for us and him. Spoke to someone who knows him and him coming back to Adelaide was such a great move for him. He is in heaven playing for the team he loves, at home, and in front of his family and friends.

It's also good to see the club making an effort to get a core group of SA kids who supported the club growing up as their next backbone of leaders.

Hard to see many, if any, becoming actual stars. A few will become serviceable.

Sholl - I feel like last year was his ceiling. He was very good but I think that's as good as he gets. I'd take that output every year though.

Schoenberg - Seen glimpses. If it doesn't click this year it never will. Saying no.

Cook - Depth at best. Won't ever be best 18 here or elsewhere.

Berry - Handy. Has good attributes but needs to improve the things that are hard to learn. Could be best 22 if he tidies up possession.

Jones - Bust.

Murphy - Bust.

Butts - Seen his best. Fine as depth, could be best 22 when in form.

Borlase - Handy enough without setting the world on fire. Will be serviceable.

Dowling - Not sure he has star power but could become that reliable, workman Sloane type. Ceiling is high though, looks at home in the big league.

My test for "making it" would be whether a player would genuinely have interest from other clubs and so would have a best 22 spot in the AFL.

The only two players from the list I can see other clubs being interested in are Sholl and Butts.

Sholl has basically made it as best 22 in our side. Would be a bench type player at a few other clubs too.

Butts is a victim of circumstance here but should be in demand for other clubs needing KPDs. He's better than Brandon Zerk-Thatcher for example

I would think that Jones would get a look in at another AFL club.

Top 10 draft pick, has pace and zero off field issues - he will 100% be able to be given a chance as a best 22 player at another club

Sholl - Yes, however I'd trade him whilst he is at his highest value.
Schoenberg - Possibly, but not at Adelaide given the extra mid depth now.
Cook - No
Berry - Yes, Crouch depth for when they move him on.
Jones - No, he's had his chances
Murphy - He's already made it given his selection to date, but time to wrap it up mate
Butts - Yes, depth
Borlase - Hardest to call for me, would have said no past years but he seems to keep adding to his game where he can.
Dowling - Yes, I rate him, screams footballer to me.

Scholl - I think he offers a bit, but Needs to be tougher in the contest - prefer others
Schoenberg - Unfortunately our new additions means probably not going to make it.
Cook - Has potential, but prefer Curtin and don't think he will get the opportunities.
Berry - I really like Berry but unfortunately a tad slow at AFL Level, should be dominating at SANFL level and really isn't so far.
Jones - NO - how the hell we wasted a top 10 pick on this spud
Murphy - NO - Doesn't offer enough
Butts - Should be in the side before Borlase IMO, but think hasn't fallen out of favour and is behind Keane and Murray
Borlase - probably a tad slow but key defense stocks are pretty low
Dowling - YES - Think he should be instead of Scholl
Taylor - YES but who misses out.

Scholl - Played 79 games, so he's clearly made it. I do think he'll fizzle out from here just because of Dan Curtin.
Schoenberg - Nah, he's done.
Cook - Nah, he's done. Worst resigning that we've made in recent times.
Berry - Maybe, but not at Adelaide.
Jones - Same story to Sholl, but more advanced. Has fizzled out.
Murphy - Played 100 games means he's made it, however, he's in the same situation McHenry in the last couple of years where the spot is gone. Will be delisted end of year.
Butts - Same story as Berry. Feels like a lad who needs a new environment, seeing we've decided we prefer Murray/Keane/Worrell
Borlase - Depth for a while.
Dowling - I think he will, but it's hard to see how at this point.
Taylor - The most interesting player on Adelaide's list at the moment. Seems like the only way he makes it is as a small forward, and he's got a chance to win a best 22 spot now. I do think if he finds his way out of the best 22 now when Rachele comes back, Zac is all but done.
Edwards - Seems inevitable.
Ryan - Hard to say.
Nankervis - I think this one depends on this offseason, more than anything Nank does. Seems like the lad who gets squeezed if Adelaide brings in a gun HBF, or if Dawson gets moved back (which also seems inevitable).
Pedlar - Looks all but done here seeing Taylor has overtaken him, but maybe a new environment does it.
T.Murray - Also seems inevitable.

Sholl sells sea sholls by the sea sholl.

Sholl - agree, cant see him accumulating too many more games. Is a flat track bully style player though, running abikity in wide open areas is top notch, unfortunately finals means his style of player is just not capable of performing on the big stage.
Schoenberg - Cooked
Cook - Schoenberged (see what I did there) Truly think he benefited from a lack of depth like Schoenberg, stayed on the list longer than he would have at other clubs.
Berry - I can see him being a top 23 player if he stops fumbling. If he sorts that part of his game out he becomes instantly a much better layer.
Jones - I think he is done unless he goes to another team. Good depth option now but they picked Murphy over him. Looks way down the pecking order from here.
Murphy - Should never have been drafted
Butts - Has potential, he could end up kicking Keane out at this stage.
Borlase - Depth at best, likely to fall out either this year or next
Dowling - Kids a gun, will make it, should be playing this weekend.
Taylor - Havent seen enough, could go either way
Edwards - Dont know, hard to know till he plays
Ryan - heard good things and that a debut is deserved. Apparently highly rated. will see.
Nankervis - Im not sure Adelaide know what to do with him.

No Bond on that list strange given he only received a 1 year extension - Should make it as every club should have a lockdown defender for the plethora of slippery small/medium forwards that seem to be coming through the ranks but I fear the coaches don't see it that way. IMO Bondy could also be used to put the clamps on mids that are giving us a headache at times as well.

Agree with it all. Given our defensive deficiencies — which, granted, might be a structural thing — I reckon the current team is screaming for this kid.

Nankervis - Im not sure Adelaide know what to do with him.

I do agree with this, as Nankervis just comes off as a lad who is in no-mans-land on this list at this point in time. Not really a major offensive threat on the half back flank (and doesn't profile as such, seeing Nank is more a runner than kicker), and we already have Michaelanny as that defensively strong mid-sized player. It seems like he needs either to find more offensive production quickly, or just hope the cards fall right for him (i.e. Dawson stays in the middle, no major incoming signing, Milera leaves as a UFA, Edwards/Ryan falters etc).

I'd be quite ok with us switching Nankervis and Cummings in the lineup and giving Nank a shot at locking down a wing role. That said, wing may have its own problems with it being a pretty natural spot to hole up Curtin and Draper for a year or two.

I'll throw in Bond as someone I forgot, as I could see it at another club such as West Coast/North, not so much here. Has the same problem as Nankervis where Michaelanny exists and you can't afford to run too many defensive-only players in your back 50.
