Here's my view on every player and whether they will be with the club in 2006.
I will give them grades of:
LAST CHANCE = 2006 is the absoloute last chance to prove themselves
GONE - This is obvious
MORE TIME
SAFE
TRADE - Either to clinch a good deal or to offload a player who hasnt done much but might attract the interest of others.
RETIRE
1. Davis - Wouldn't get much in a trade, likely to persist. LAST CHANCE
2. Woewodin - Might be suprise delisting/retiring but doubt it. Shouldn't be able to get trade. LAST CHANCE
3. Lonie - Interesting. I think we'll try and trade him as he would attract some interest, but 2006 would be his last chance. LAST CHANCE/TRADE BAIT
4. Didak - SAFE
5. Buckley - Unlikely to retire but might retire. Otherwise SAFE
6. Holland - Could be used to clinch a deal TRAID BAIT?
7. Morrison - Is pretty safe but 2006 might be his last year depending on whether kids exceed him. SAFE
8. Clement - SAFE
9. Rowe - Small chance of being traded if we need to land a big player and they ask for him otherwise SAFE.
10. Caracella - A little disapointing but is SAFE
11. O'Bree - Unlikely to get anything in trade LAST CHANCE!
12. Walker - Needs more time/chances but we might cut our losses to a club that would be interested in him. MORE TIME/TRADE BAIT
13. Cole - See Rowe. SAFE
14. Wakelin - Very unlikely to retire SAFE
15. Egan - SAFE
16. Davidson - A club may be interested but with injuries wouldnt get much for him - MORE TIME
17. Burns - Might retire (the most likely to retire on our list IMO) but more likely SAFE
18. Licuria - SAFE
19. Williams - GONE!!!!!!!!
20. Tarrant - SAFE
21. Richards - SAFE
22. Shaw - SAFE
23. Rocca - SAFE
24. Lockyer - TRADE BAIT
25. Fraser - SAFE
26. Johnson - SAFE
27. Maxwell - SAFE
28. Rusling - SAFE
29. Lokan - GONE!
30. King - He is going well in VFL, but doesn't seem to be getting chances so I think they don't rate him GONE
31. Morrison - Hmmm more time IMO - MORE TIME
32. Cloke - SAFE
33. Cloke - MORE TIME
34. Cloke - A wildcard. Don't underestimate him he might attract a little bit of interest. I think we'll keep him for antoher year for depth reasons. LAST CHANCE (slight chance of trade)
35. Presti - SAFE
36. Swan - Big fan but with limited opportunities - LAST CHANCE
37. Shaw - MORE TIME
38. Iacobucci - SAFE
39. Shaw - MORE TIME
40. Hall - MORE TIME
41. Davies - MORE TIME
43. O'Brien - LAST CHANCE
44. Leonard - GONE
45. Fanning - LAST CHANCE
It is at an early stage but I think we'll clear 5-7 spots for the draft. It is too early to call to many "GONE"s at the moment. As soon as we get to around round 17 we should know for sure.
