The Tigers accepted the Crows' offer to on-trade the AFL compensation pick they received for Nathan Bock moving to the Gold Coast, as well as a third-round selection.

Richmond defender Will Thursfield yesterday moved a step closer to kick-starting his career with Fremantle. Thursfield, who is contracted for another year at Punt Road, met Fremantle coach Mark Harvey last week and is keen to make the move west.

It is believed the Tigers would accept a second-round national draft pick, at this stage in the high 40s, in return.

Personally, l'm probably happy with that. But l dont really want to see the back of Will as our defence was actually starting to build some momentum. A little sweetener on top of pick 38 would be nice, even if it is a fourth rounder.

Our draft picks are gathering some momentum now: 6, 27, 29, 38, 46, 50, 63, 80

Having that range takes the pressure off us to use the compo selection.

:thumbsu:

ps. l'm aware the article states high 40's, but their selection as it currently stands is pick 38. It will drop back and it may drop back as far late 40's, assuming that Freo get Collingwood's second round selection for Tarrant.

Not happy about this deal:thumbsdown:

Surely he is worth more than that given the AFL saw fit to give an end of first round draft pick for Harbrow(low 20's? in the next 5 drafts). I know they play different roles but Thursty plays in that thankless position at FB.

I realise the AFL has no say in what Freo offer us but surely RFC value Thirsty more than this:confused:

What we get depends on who wants him.
Hopefully a few more teams are after him and his price goes up.
Surely Hawthorn would be keen. You would think Carlton, but they're too arrogant to realise their shortcomings.

Would prefer they got rid of McGuane before Thursfield...key backs are hot property so hopefully Richmond asks for more. When teams are in fnals contention and looking to top up we should view it as they will pay over the top.

Sounds like the Pies are not that interested in Tarrant, apparently they haven't spoken with Fremantle since the opening hours of trade week.

Really wish they could come to an agreement, thus forcing clubs like GC, Hawks and Blues to look more seriously at Thursty, and thus pushing up his trade value.

Having said that, rumour was that Ratten laughed at the Tigers' proposition of a straight swap Grigg for Thursty. s**t coach, s**t club :thumbsu:

Possible scenario mentioned was * Josh Fraser to GC / GC Compensation pick to pies / GC Compensation pick to RFC / Thursfield to Freo / Tarrant to pies.

Fine in theory, but we would really want to be clarifying what Fraser's compensation value would be, I would think it would be unlikely to be as high as the picks offered for Bock/Harbrow/Brown, etc.

Well lets hope his compo value is high. Would love access to another selection at the end of the first round. Hopefully Hawthorn get further involved and drive up demand in Will.

Just mentioned on TWR collingwoood's compo pick is now being passed onto Brisbane as part of the Brennan/Krakouer/Fraser deal.

Hard to keep up with what is happening today.

Hopefully we can deal direct with either Freo or Hawthorn (as Goldsack is completely unavailable).

recieving a pick around 38 for Will is absolutely Pathetic!

the whole draft system is overated and who knows who will become good..but we developed Will to become somewhat decent of a player and to give that up for a risk around 38 just seems strange.
for those that think we will give up pick 50 for Grigg are just greedy and trade hungry. we would have to give up way more than that even though i dont rate Grigg that highly.

So you want more than 38 for Will but want to pay a lot more than 50 for Grigg.
Christ are you Greg Miller!

If you put into context where our teams development is then pick 38 for Thirsty is alright. We are over supplied for KPB and while I am also a believer that Thursty is the one we'd like to keep tuff calls need to be made.

It's all about 2013 and 2014 let's not forget that.
