Hasn't Petrie been a stay at home forward this year? Petrie would get in as a forward if anything I would have thought.
The Melbourne media overhype Goldstein bigtime. Leuenberger was better in the ruck and around the ground last Saturday. It was evened up late when Goldy kicked a couple after the heat went from the game.

Goldstein had 42 hit outs, 1 goal asset, 2 1% & 2 goals......but Leuenberger was clearly better![]()
Safe? You mean obvious right? If they pick 2 ruckmen then yes, he along with Cox will be AA. If not then I fear they'll take the safe bet and go Cox. Dont get me wrong, hes been very good this season but IMO Goldstein has been playing at a higher level virtually solo more consistently, although West Coast do play 2 dominate rucks.
Actually I disagree.Yep, Goldy makes it easy. Been the best tap ruckmen in the league this this year.
Cox spent more time in the ruck today and probably had a greater responsibility than usual.Well lucky they don't pick AA on one game.
I think from the way he responded you could say he is the clear favourite for AA ruck this year.
Its because of the introduction of the sub rule. Most sides other then West Coast and Essendon don't play 2 or more rucks, and so the AA selectors might adapt to this method by only choosing one for the AA team.Yes, after Cox tho on the bench. Had 2 last yr so don't see why not this yr
Mitch Clark deserved it more in 2009 but they went for one ruck so I hope they do the same this year. If Sandilands wasn't injured it would've been Sandi and Cox AA.

That's the problem with being such a big powerful iconic club like ours, the media shoot their load all over young players, when other clubs like Melbourne, Collingwood, Richmond, Carton etc barely get recolonized.Yeah, that's the problem with being a North supporter, your players ALWAYS BEING TALKED UP IN THE MEDIA.
You can't go down the newsagents without being blinded by front page after front page screaming about the likes Ryan Bastinac and Kieran Harper and Jamie MacMillan.
I feel for players like Daisy Thomas and Judd and Dyson Heppell who really don't get the recognition they deserve from the Melbourne press.
(In all seriouslyness, Goldstein is the breakout player of the year, is doing it singlehanded and deserves every single plaudit he gets.)

Ok guys, we get the message. FWIW he's had an outstanding year and for a late addition to AFL it's been even more remarkable. When it comes to North, I think the emergence of Ziebell has been equally as impressive, but you have got to start beating top sides. You should have really beaten Carlton.
I'd still have Cox as number one, but Goldstein has certainly earned some notice.
