Will we ever see another 3peat???

After all the leg up they have been (and will continue to get all so arrogant/ignorant AFL admin can beat their chest) given I'll be surprised if GWS can't manage a fivepeat.

I actually think now more then ever with the modern game we will see powerhouse clubs stay up there more often so yes we will see another three peat.

Teams up the top tend to stay there for a good 3-4 year period.
GWS have the talent to be there for 5-6 years.
3 peats in the future wont be so special. 5 peats are the new 3 peat

Are you serious? A "spread out" 3-peat? I get your point about equalisation but chose your words carefully.

Last thing we need is for Geelong fans to start more threads on how great they think they were.
I give credit where credit is due. You can't sit there and tell me Geelong weren't that good because they were. People wrote them of after 2010 and they came back again in 2011.

GWS is a juggernaught. You only have to see the high draft picks in their NEAFL side to realise that, some weeks they have 5-6 first rounders in the NEAFL!

Three first rounders this year plus more to come for their trading out of fringe players and it will continue for several more years because every year they keep adding so many more high draft picks.

GWS could win this year and for another 4 or 5! Bad luck if you're the Bullies chasing your first flag in 62 years, 63 years, 64 years ...

And don't forget GWS still has COLA, extra players and extra salary cap! Eddie, get onto AFL House about this.

I agree totally. They were an awesome side for those years. No doubt about it.

Just the wording of spread out 3peat didn't sit well.
Yeah I should've reworded it but couldn't find another phrase for it, especially given across the four GFs and 3 flags they had the same core group bar 2011 where Milburn, Mooney and a couple of other big names were left out.

Of course we will. A team like Richmond has been up and about the past 3 years. They couldn't get the job done in the prelim last year but if they were to win this year you could certainly see how a good team can do it. Don't get me wrong, its not easy but there will be better teams than Richmond. After that its just a matter of taking your chances during critical moments and keeping the foundation of your list together.

Part of the challenge is that by year 3 you really need to find a few replacements for players that have been squeezed out by the salary cap.

Imagine making this OP less than 12 months after a 3peat happened.

Whilst the comp became ultra competitive from 2016 on, Richmond haven't been far off it, whilst GWS, Geelong and West Coast have all been regular finalists these past 4 years. Hawks doing a threepeat in an 18 team comp was exceptional though, especially coming off 2 already stellar seasons.
