Go back to victoria? I hate to say it but I think this rumour has a lot more credibility than the Judd ones. I sincerely hope he doesn't, but we all know how important family is to Aborigines.

I also think that success won't be such a big factor in his decision. To me he seems to be the type of player who wants to play the best game he can on the day, rather than wanting a premiership. (I realise of course every player wants to play in a premiership, but it means more to some than others).

I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes.

If Wirra was going to go he would have gone long ago.

He will stay.

If he does go, just hope we get something decent in return. I'd be gutted if he was to just leave and go into the pre-season draft.

I've vented my feelings on this, and until we hear Wirra come out and say "I want to go back to Victoria for 2004" it means nothing.

Every year we hear rumours onWirra and in the end he goes no where........He loves this club.

Im pretty sure Wirra was asked if he wanted to go home last year, with the illness of his mother. I remember Worsfold indicating that Wirrpunda stated he wanted to stay, so I cant see why after all this time and everything he's gone through why he would change his mind now.

I hope you all are right. (except for the people who agreed with me)

wirra was quoted as saying this in a recent interview with dipper after the following question:

Q: I wouldn’t recommend it. Now, being an Eastern Ranges boy from Victoria, do you miss home?

A: I love to get home when I get the chance. I’m 23, I’ve been here for eight years and I’m in the last year of a contract. Mum and the family always want me to come home. The worst thing about being over here for so long is that I’ve missed out on watching my little sister and my nephews and nieces growing up. I left when they were in kindergarten and now they’re in high school. They’re the precious things that I miss the most. It was also very hard when my mum got sick. But you always assess your options and see if the door’s open (to go home). This club has been very good to me though.

so its a realistic chance that he would feel the urge to go home, but as he said, the club has been very good to him and he will most likely stay on.

I hope he doesnt go home but i believe he will eventually. Chick wanted to ONE DAY play back in WA, now he is, i reckon wirra might just do the same, but i also reckon hell try make sure we get something decent in return. But i aint giving up all hope, i really want him to stay!

chick is for pick no.8 in the draft, so i think if he went home in two/three years a first-round pick would be the least we would get in return. but that would still pale in comparison to actually keeping wirra, so lets hope he stays on and signs a contract for the long-term future.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Wirrpunda retire early, say by 26 or 27. He seems to love working with kids and involved in the community and we have all heard him say that his body feels a lot older than 23. So if we deliver him a premiership in the next few years I wouldnt be surprised if he hung them up a little early.

But I have also heard him say that he wants to be a one club man. He said it in an interview last year I believe and said he took inspiration from guys like Jako and Matera who have played their entire career's with the one team.

All said and done though, I doubt he will leave. Particularly with the position the club is in now. If we win the premiership this year though, he could do a Headland, but I still doubt it.

Im more worried about Judd than Punda.

Victorian media crap.

Wirra has made no noises about going home, yet the Victorian Media decide to take his comments out of context and twist them around to maybe help destabilise the club.

Wirra has no intentions of going back yet.

My TV screen had a narrow escape this morning when we were channel surfing to see what was on and landed on 7. Salmon banged on about Collingwood (fair enough in the circumstances of yesterday), then talked up Sydney's "BIG" win and "how good are the Swans?" (against St Kilda? at the SCG - anyone tip the Saints? hello?), then mentioned in 2 seconds that the Eagles had had a huge win over Carlton. Then they started. Is Judd coming home? That deadschitt Patrick Smith then said "Wirrapunda has put up his hand to come home" - which amounts to an outright lie.

Wirra is very mature and sensible. My tip - one more 2 year contract with a 1 year extension and he'll go home with our blessing and a Premiership medal if he wants to at the end of that time.
