Just as an observation, it appears that given her history of berating Cousins she has boxed herself in a corner. Now that he has come on board with the Tigers she seems to make a lot of references to him via third parties. I realise she is having a rant here (rightly or wrongly) but I get the feeling that by alluding to Maguire's supposed lament of the Cousins situation she is trying use this to advantage. On one hand she won't come out and say what a great move by the Tiges it was to snare Cousins (in case things go sour down the track) but she is subtly using other people (in this case Maguire) to suggest that it was a good move by the Tiges. Lets face it, Maguire doesn't have much of a poker face so it makes it easy for her but she is very slyly putting out there a new position on Cousins without personally holding herself to it.

It makes me wonder that Caro's article came out a day or two after the presidents announced they're holding a special meeting.

Why wouldn't she focus on that, which is obviously a huge issue in the AFL at the moment?

I have generally liked Caro, and admired her courage to discuss topics that most in the football industry would keep hush hush about.

Indeed, some anti-Eddie Collingwood people might be cheering Caro along, but there really isn't a reason to try rock the Collingwood boat. If she wants to be of service to our industry, she needs to rock the Demetriou/Anderson boat, and stop praying for Collingwood instability (which all 15 clubs are praying for).

Collingwood is the sacred cow of the herald scum and the bulk of the media in this state. Nice to see a paper willing to publish articles about the pies without their figurative tongue firmly stuck on the said club's arse-crack. About time

If we compare the positive articles about Collingwood with the negative articles about Collingwood in the last couple of years I think you would be forced to eat your words. You say that the HS is biased towards Collingwood, but they ran with that Didak/Shaw stuff for well over a week last year. Over 12 pages on the first day, and let me tell you they were not positive articles. Didak doesn't need to be inside a car to make the paper though. He got a run on the front page once for having an argument with his girlfriend.

The other stuff Wilson bought up has been extensively and exhaustively analysed and rehashed by all major newspapers, and football shows. To suggest that they are somehow pandering to Collingwood in these articles is complete delusion. These newspapers line up to sink the boot into Collingwood because they know it will sell papers.

Wilson did not raise anything that had not been widely reported already. I actually saw the headline when I picked up the Age and wondered what we had done this time. It turns out a paper thin opinion piece with no new information can make the front page of the sports section now.

THE Sunday Age and The Age were unable to interview any Collingwood players after Friday night's NAB Cup semi-final victory, after the intervention of president Eddie McGuire.

McGuire declared the players off-limits after a column in Friday's Age questioned how long he could or should remain at the helm of the Magpies.

Age chief football writer Caroline Wilson wrote that McGuire's 11-year service was "threatening to become tainted by his obsessive behaviour in recent times and occasional rantings against anyone who has done him wrong".

I think it's more a case of following through with an earlier threat to bar any media that sensationalises Collingwood stories. I don't think he is concerned if people think it is proving Caro right , rather a consistent stand of if you try to crap on us , we'll put up our umbrella.

So the club is going to totally black ban all forms of media? & if the reason given, is they take offence to the tabolid nature of reporting, there will not be 1 article about Collingwood at the Herald Sun (and any other paper) or Channel 9. Last week when we invited all the media in.

eddie said if collingwood is used to push media hysterics he would, place a ban on that association as had been decided by all in the club. Caro didnt take the hint, ban was placed.
