Djokovic is nothing special. Hewitt just misses far too many easy shots. Missing shots whilst going for shots you can understand but when shots are missed just hitting it back it's unacceptable for profesionals and the players who do it wont do very well.

 Djokovic is nothing special? Oh dear.

Hewitt has improved dramatically over the past 12 months, and not many people thought he would get past the 4th Round, perhaps some did. You blokes who hang around and wait for him to fall so you can bag him are pathetic.

Djokovic came within a bee's dick of dropping his bundle there at 5-4, and Hewitt couldn't capitalise. His serving was diabolical.

they were playing for close to four hours,so you think he might be a little bit tired and not hit the ball with as much power in the fourth set
djokovic nothing special.he's fourth in the world!

Nah, I hung around so I could bag Newk :thumbsu:

Geez I would hate to see what people would say if Hewitt had a serve like that bloke he lost to, what did it take, 3 hours for each serve? And the screaming, worse than a Williams sister

to bounce the ball 23 times between serves is just plain crap.if hewitt did it theree would be bagging like you would not believe

This far? His seed 16 and knocked out with 16 players left....hardly anything special.

And who said he was going to win Wimbledon this year? People here are just sad here. You're bagging a bloke for making it to the 4th Round of Wimbledon when he has come back from being injured not long ago? If he made it through to the Quarters you would then wait to see if he lost, then bag him. If he won the whole bloody thing you would bag him.

Vintage Aussie tall poppy syndrome.

About the serving I think it's pretty unfair how he has so many bounces. As a former tennis player myself I must say I would find it extremely difficult and frustrating trying to concentrate for the whole time waiting for him to serve the ball. Surely they could make a rule where you can only bounce the ball 7-8 times max. That is plenty anyway.

Rubbish. I used to like him when he actually went for shots. Now he plays WAY too safe and will never be a decent player ever again unless he starts going for shots. He is not playing amateurs who make lots of mistakes. He is playing men who will make it 8 or 9 times out of 10. As they say no guts no glory.

Tall poppy syndrome implies that he's actually good.

Main reason I'm glad he lost is because he's not an entertaining player, and yet Channel 9 insist on showing all his matches while much better games are taking place. That's one of the main reasons he shits me. So the sooner he gets out, the sooner I can watch people worth watching.

A "decent" player? He was seeded 16, coming back from an injury, and lost to the 4th seed in four sets, three of which were decided by tiebreaks. How much more "decent" can you get?

People are under no illusions that Hewitt is nowhere near the form he used to be.

1) Tall poppy syndrome applies when you don't give somebody credit when it is due.

2) So Lleyton shits you because Channel 9 show his games to Australia, which most people want to see? Mature stuff there. You seriously think they should put Bjorkman's match on instead of Hewitt's?

He has gone backwards but not as much as people think, just when he was the best the best other player was Ferrero and look at him now too...tennis in 2000-2002 was pretty bad.

It's also pretty hard to stay in the top few players for extended periods of time. You lot talk about it like it's a piece of cake to be the world's best tennis player. We've had two players at the top in the last what, 30 years?

No one's asking you to like the bloke, just give him some kudos where it's due.

Speak for yourself there, champ. I think most people want to see quality tennis. And with Hewitt, that's not what you're gunna get.

You're seriously joking? You're suggesting that more Australian people would want to watch a one-sided match instead a four-set nailbiter, with three tiebreaks, regardless of who is playing?

Give me a break. Take off the anti-Hewitt shades for atleast one post.
