Whats going on with ch7 showing shite outside court matches? Do fox sports have the rights to centre court this year or something?

Always going to get the Australian's on Channel 7....get Fox if you are complaining.

i know it probably won't happen, but I'm hoping Gulbis catches fire and beat Berdych, that would be great.

Well, that's exactly what happened. A faultless performance by Gulbis. Almost 2x more winners than unforced errors, served ridiculously and showed some mental toughness to top it all off. Shame we know he won't be able to keep it up and actually go on a decent run here.

Isner was also a surprise loser to Falla in 5. Interesting opening day.

What's this talk about Wimbledon being a rehearsal for Olympics?

All the slams are more important than Olympics tbh.

Wimbledon will be used for the tennis at the Olympics. This year's Wimbledon tournament is the 'test event' for the Olympic tennis.

It will also be one of the very rare times Centre Court will be used outside of The Championships (Davis Cup is normally played on Court 1)

Didn't see the match but would not surprise in the slightest if Gulbis gets rolled in his next match. Has he turned a corner? Doubt it. He's always been highly talented but from what I've read he's a spoil brat from a rich family who just doesn't put the work in. No work ethic, lives off his parents money etc. Obviously he'd be doing alright by himself but he has the game to be a top tenner, unfortunately he's a bit of a mental wreck.

Rodionovia was a token Australian first round loser, so why bother for any further details?
Maybe because people are fans of Sharapova and want to know what's going on. Or you know considering it was Centre Court they're going to give updates anyway. What a stupid post.

Anyway, I thought Marinko would've done better last night, IIRC he was up 5-2 in the third and then didn't win another game from there.

Jarka, well what's the point of even commenting, I know she's been injured of late, but I will never understand her reason to resorting to playing without tactics.

Sam played relatively well I thought, although Navarro has nothing to hurt her. She'll have a very tough match against Rus next though. Hope I'm wrong but I would not be surprised if we lose everyone tomorrow and she's the only one left.

The Bernie match will actually be interesting, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he loses, he's just been shithouse for most of the year and Goffin has a fair amount of matches under his belt (even if it was on clay).

EDIT: Just thought I'd ad that, no Hamish McFlog, Johanna Griggs, Basil, Brooooce has meant ch 7's coverage has gone up ten fold.

Who knows with Gulbis, just as likely to thrash someone in 3 sets....as he is to get thrashed in 3 sets himself. He is up and down like a yo yo, although when he is 'on' there is no-one better to watch.

Yeah the coverage is much better without Channel 7's commentators, fluff pieces and endless promo's for upcoming TV shows.

What I do hate though - and it's a minor thing, but it still shits me - is the way the TV camera on Centre Court moves around in short sharp movements, trying to follow the ball.
Keep the camera still...our eyes can track the ball just fine!
The cameraman/woman should only move the camera when a shot pulls a player way outside the court, not on every ****ing groundstroke!

...And now that I've got that off my chest, it's good to be watching Wimbledon again for another year. Looking forward to the Tomic/Goffin match.

anybody having significant trouble seeing the ball on the tomic match by seven. the ball seems to be really really fuzzy. doesnt occur with the footy and tennis before. this is awful.... it may also just be me:p

The picture quality is very poor. Why it can't be shown in HD astounds me.

Tomic has started very well, almost like he has slotted straight from Wimbledon 2011 to now. Love watching him on the grass, his game is suited so well to it.

Bernie has gotten a bit sloppy here. Goffin on the verge of taking the second:( and does.

Bernie immediately broken in the third, smashed a racquet, I should've stayed out he was playing better when I wasn't watching it seems. :p

Haha Benoit Paire is such a mental basketcase if anyone is watching him v Ebden.
Would probably be the only player in world tennis that would be so angry at being 2 sets to nil up and in a tiebreak......now its 2 sets to 1 he is still on the angry pills. If Ebden gets a lead in the 4th set I reckon Paire will implode and lose the match.
