Nah, that's legit. If you're going to draw someone to the net with a drop-volley, then you're asking for that.

If you've got the whole court to hit at then yeah, try and avoid the player - but Murray was in a tough position and didn't have a lot of options. Was the smartest play available, gave Federer the smallest chance possible at a volley.
