Get ****ed Michael Lammer. campaigner retired and bets were void. Was going to guarantee myself either $104, $310 or most likely $966 with a straight sets win to Gruel.

That is a stupid ****ing rule. Why?? Seriously, why do bets become void in Tennis if a player retires?

bet at a real book and you won't have that trouble

works both ways anyway idiot
Sportingbet:

Abandoned Matches/Retirements

If a match is abandoned or a player retires, all bets will be void, unless the bet has already reached its natural conclusion. Bets on Match Prices will stand if one set has been completed, otherwise these bets will be void.
Considering Greul took the first set 6-0, how come I didn't receive my winnings?
As I understand it, some bookmakers will pay out no matter what after a ball is served. Some will pay out after a set is completed. Some won't pay out until a match is completed in full.

I believe I have a fair reason to dispute Sportingbet's decision to refund my money, instead of considering my bet a winner. If it's in their terms and conditions, I have a case and I expect to get my winnings.

Haha, nice vent buddy. If you didnt read/know the rules before you bet, then you have no right to complain when the rule goes against you. Serves you right for betting on 2 guys ranked in the mid 200's anyway i reckon. What was the reasoning behind that anyway?

For future reference Pinnacle and Betfair both would have paid out on Greul, so maybe open an account with them if you are disgruntled with Sportingbet. You'll find you get better odds too.

Nothing you copy and pasted on that post is written in these rules. Did you actually just make that up?! See below straight from sportingbets rules. Not sure if it could be any clearer
281.
TENNIS
If a match is awarded to a player as a result of the disqualification or incapacity of an opponent, all single
wagers placed on the Match Winner, Sets Betting, Correct Sets Order and Games Handicap are void. Affected
multiples will be recalculated excluding that leg.

Didn't make it up?? As I was trying to find a reasonable answer as to why some books void bets if matches are not completed in their entirety, I came across this.

Not sure where you found that, but the only rules i can find on Spotingbets website are the ones I posted above.
Better luck with your punting on the Challenger circuit next time!

I came across those rules you're talking about too. Type in "why do bets in tennis become void if a player retires" into google and I think it's one of the first four or five options that come up relate to sportingbet. Click on that link and once on the page, open up the search function (ctrl+f) and type in tennis. Keep pressing next until you get to the sub header "tennis" and you will find rules relating to abandoned matches?? Dunno how they can have two sets of rules, very confusing.

The first lot of rules you posted are Sportingbet UK's rules.

The highlighted text on the Australian page doesn't help you.

It says bets for tournament winners and progress to next stage bets will be honoured.

i.e. If Nadal v. Djoker final and you've backed Nadal to win the tournament (separate from the final H2H which would be refunded) and Djoker retires, you still collect on Nadal.

Or you've got Nadal to win his quarter and the bloke he is playing in the last match of that bracket retires and Nadal gets a W/O, you still collect on that (again separate from the H2H on that individual match market which would be refunded).

The wording does not include H2H.

Blame Davydenko for your plight.

Thanks a lot Rafa.

Anyway, tips for today:

Troicki head to head
Stephens/Lisicki 3 Sets
Rus head to head
Clijsters -5
Watson +5.5
Cirstea head to head

Did anyone watch the ladies final last night?

Had a small bet on Radwanska to win a set. Serena was dominating. Took the first set 6-1 and was leading 4-1 in the fourth set. I was tired, so I thought stuff it. I turned off the TV and went to bed. I wake up to log into my Luxbet account and see my balance is $80 more than it should be... couldn't believe my eyes.

How come Serena fell away for 20 minutes?
