Groth and Saville just qualified too. Saville won 8-6 in the 5th. And great for Sam, he deserves it, very happy for him.

Bolt lost in 4 and Barty is in a 3rd set now.

Was at the qualifying today. It was awesome with so many Aussies playing. It's also free and you get to stand really close to the players, basically in the corner of the court. Saville's match in particular was great. He saved a match point in the 4th and then came back from a break down in the 5th to win it. A lot of the Aussie players and coaches etc were there supporting. Hewitt and Kyrgios were among them, which was good to see.

Barty was particularly unlucky. The other girl was choking massively when serving for the match. Got down 0-40 then hit a really tight forehand that hit the net chord and dribbled over. That seemed to relax her and she finished it. If it had bounced back the other way I think Barty would have gone on to win the match, as it would have broken the other girl. She was a bit of a head case.

I hope Groth gets a reasonable draw. Could do some damage. Watching his serve in person was awesome. I was just tall enough to peek over the temporary fence directly behind the court, so got a great view of it at court level. He's very powerfully built for a tennis player.

Not sure what happened to Bolt. I didn't see too much of his match but did see him go 3-0 up in the 4th. Then when I walked back past his court the match was finished and he'd lost the 4th set 6-4.

Still, all in all a good day for the Aussies.

The biggest swing was in the Berankis v Ito match. I was standing next to Lleyton Hewitt when I heard him tell Kyrgios that Berankis is a 'seriously good player.' And I was impressed by his game in person. He was serving for the match at 5-3 in the 4th before losing the last two sets 7-5 6-0. He did have some injury trouble in the 5th set but it was a massive turnaround. Up until that last set it'd been a really good match to watch.

Ok, well overall the draw is pretty crappy but there are some positives.

Men:
Matosevic vs. Verdasco - Frustating, but he's playing well enough to challenge Verdasco, am curious to see how it goes. Don't think he will win but I hope he plays free.
Tomic vs. Donskoy - Donskoy hasn't done a lot this year and will give Tomic free points, I'm going out on a limb and say Tomic actually wins this. Would play Berdych again in the 2nd
Saville vs Thiem - Battle of the young players and Saville will be outclassed here, great effort again to qualify.
Groth vs. Dolgopolov - Ahhh, frustating. Just have to hope Dolgopolov is having a bad day. A bad matchup too, probably one of the worst players he could of faced.
Hewitt vs. Prysiezny - This draw is the positive, youmlook at that draw and arguably if Hewitt is playing well, he should be favourite 4th round. This should be a solid win. Janowicz in the 2nd is in horrible form and actually isn't a bad matchup for Lleyton and then Robredo is the seed in the 3rd. I would actually be disappointed if he didn't make the 4th tbh. Federer would be waiting in the 4th btw.
Ebden vs. Raonic - Oh dear.... lol
Duckworth vs. Gasquet - Not a chance really, Gasquet should be too solid, another good effort to qualify, should give it his all
Kyrgios vs. Robert - Good draw to win a round, Gasquet will be waiting in the 2nd.

Should be a fun couple of days regardless because there's supposedly 12 courts being streamed.

Women:
Stosur vs. Wickmayer - Last time Sam lost her coach the week before a major, that Duval amtch happened, so now she is playing a player who can play some tennis, yeah, my hopes aren't good.
Dellacqua vs. Kontaveit - Revenge for Barty please... Shoudl win this and then a possible 2nd round match Radwanska, should be interesting.
Gajdosova vs. Voegle - Got this WC for winning Nottingham so I assume she is playing ok and this would be winnable if she is playing tennis she is capable.

Certainly worried about the prospect of Stosur bombing out first round again.

Going into this Wimbledon like last year, no expectations at all, so when she actually wins a couple of rounds, it's an absolute bonus. The points start coming off after Wimby too, going to be a big few months for Sam.
