Not a gambler.
Just liked the fact someone new won a
major really.

Look a 3rd round result here would be an achievement.

However if you can tell me who is winning bar Kvitova and Pliskova here you are better than I am. 2 quarters are very open with Muguruza playing awful and Kerber barely playing well all season

Nadal has won 2 Wimbledon's its fair to say he has a better grass court record period.
Did you ignore the part about how Nadal hasn't gone past the fourth round at Wimbledon since 2011?

Wimbledon has the correct seedlings and it works well.
Intelligent arguments generally include a rationale, and not just an opinion masquerading as fact.

But it's cute when you pretend to be an authority on things.

If you're such a big fan of seeding adjustments based on past performances, then you must have thought Nadal being seeded fourth this year at the French Open was unforgivable? How in God's name did Murray get seeded first?

How do you justify Berdych being seeded behind Thiem, Nishikori and Zverev at Wimbledon?

Once you start adjusting, where do you stop?

The reality is that rankings are increasingly the template for seedings at majors, even Wimbledon, particularly at the pointy end.

Nadal still has a better grass court decent record and that doesn't just include Wimbledon it includes the lead in tournaments. Like it or not a bloke who has won the tournament before is going to be seeded higher than one that hasn't.

I believe all grand slams should use discretion seedlings. World rankings should be only part of the seeding. I'd want the best clay courters seeding accordingly at the French. The only Slam that does discretionary seeding is Wimbledon and if you actually follow tennis you'd know why- there is very limited grass court tennis so they can't just use the rankings

You continue to ignore his ordinary recent results at Wimbledon.

Why are his victories in 2008 and 2010 more relevant than his results from 2012 onwards?

So Berdych should be seeded ahead of Thiem, Nishikori and Zverev?

You are acting like Wawrinka has done much at all at Wimbledon- it's his worst Grand Slam. It just is. Nadal was higher than Wawrinka in the rankings he didn't move. He's still just ahead. The ones that moved were Federer and Djokovic and those two were clearly going to move- they have multiple Wimnledons between them.

Wouldn't have an issue with Berdych being seeded higher.

Destanee aiava smashed her opponent in the 2nd round, one more win and she is in the main draw. Rodionova had a tough 3 set win and Cabrera lost today.

JP Smith is currently on court in the final round of qualifying. He won the 1st set. Not sure if it's best of 3 or best of 5 sets in the final round of qualifying. My guess is it's bo5

How does Osty play on grass? Anyone?
I don't think she will do too well. History suggests players can suffer a bit of a hangover from the French or a hangover from their first title.

but I don't think her hit or miss game style from the french will work well on grass. she hit the ball so well at the French that I don't think the extra % she will get from the faster surface will matter. Factor in the lower bounce and the fact she has no touch whatsoever means her current power game is probably more suited elsewhere. but heck, this is just my opinion and that is normally wrong. power tennis normally wins on grass so I am very much going against the grain.

statswise.....She is roughly 50%(9W/7L) over the last 3 years on grass and has defeated Kvitova(plus other good players) on the surface. Plus the fact she is a previous Wimbledon Junior champ could count for something.

He's made two QFs in a five-year period when Nadal hasn't gone past the fourth round.

So if Wimbledon wants to shuffle Federer up the pecking order, why should Wawrinka be the one demoted from the top four?

It just is. Nadal was higher than Wawrinka in the rankings he didn't move. He's still just ahead. The ones that moved were Federer and Djokovic and those two were clearly going to move- they have multiple Wimnledons between them.
So Djokovic should be squeezed out of the top four seeds, if you prefer.

To be honest, I don't think Federer should have been upgraded at all. I'm a huge Federer fan but he makes his bed by playing fewer tournaments. He's not then entitled to a more forgiving draw when Wimbledon rolls around.

But if that decision is made, you can't disproportionately punish the guy who's ranked third. That's a raw deal.

You should leave Federer as the fifth seed, or shuffle him up and demote the fourth-ranked player (Djokovic), or demote the guy with the worst recent results at Wimbledon (Nadal). None of those translates to Wawrinka getting squeezed out of the top four seedings.

Wouldn't have an issue with Berdych being seeded higher.
Didn't you say Wimbledon has the "correct seedings"?

Which one is it, champ?

Do you change your team as often as you change your mind?

You don't actually know whether you're coming or going. It takes 30 seconds to demonstrate that.

Loses the set. Was one point from the MD, gonna be really tough to come back from that, reckon he'd gone now.

Thanks for the updates, appreciated :thumbsu: ;)

Hope he can win the third. Shame De Minaur didn't get through and surprised Groth didn't either.
