It is just the Sloane Stephens way.

The WTA has a couple really good players who are very suspect in the early rounds but unbeatable in the later rounds. Kvitova and Muguruza are the other 2 prime examples.
Called it.

only 2 top 8 seeds left. Halep and Pliskova. Halep has made tough work out of an easy draw as well. Pliskova 1st round wasn't great either and now plays the red-hot Buzarnescu.

AVU is a big girl, so no surprise her best result has come on grass. Still, she shouldn't be winning against the top 20.

5 Aussies in Round 3, with Ebden and De Minaur (and Millman hopefully) certain to get career-high rankings? Gotta be happy with that.

Ebden finally cracking the top 50, well done to him! Not even Sam Groth, Guccione, Luczak, etc. could manage that. I think Kyrgios, Tomic, Matosevic and Hewitt are the only Australian males to achieve that feat since the mid 00s. Wayne Arthurs left the top 50 in April 2003, and Scud by August 2004, can't think of anyone else around that mark since then.

Very happy for Ebden, he had a lot of time off a while back and I thought maybe he was done so to get into the top 50 is great. Millman should end up about 52 which will be a new career high for him. I see him as a 50 to 100 ranked player so I think this is great. If he can stay fit I think now he could even get a bit higher. I think De Minaur should end up around 68, unless he beats Rafa then even higher :D

Yep, Marinko got to about 38 in the world but guys like Luzcak and Guccione got to only 60 odd, there really wasn't anyone else during that time.

Didn't think Ebden would ever get there. I remember the first time he cracked the top 100 (done it 3 times really in cycles) and he was saying he goal was to make the top 30 by the end of the year, thought was ridiculous, he still won't do that but he will be close

Did anyone hear Bartoli's comments about Nick?

Marion Bartoli, 2013 womens' Wimbledon champion, has sensationally claimed that Nick Kyrgios will never win a major title due to his attitude.

Speaking on BBC's Wimbledon coverage after Kyrgios' straight-set win over Robin Haase, Bartoli was very clear in her assessment of the controversial 22-year-old's title hopes.

"I don't think so. Just because his work ethic is just not good enough to win a grand slam," she said.

"And even when Rafa and Roger will eventually retire, the field is just too strong.

Is Bartoli a commentator again? I thought she was making a comeback to the circuit

The comeback is over, she decided to officially retire a few months ago

Channel 7 lineup confirmed for day 5.
Keys v Rodina
Williams v Mladenovic
Federer v Struff

Pretty poor compared to the Super Saturday lineup ahead tomorrow night. All good, just the luck of the draw.

Always something odd happening in tennis...
Konta has accused Cilbukova of deliberately trying to distract her by thigh slapping when waiting to recieve serve.

Hopefully the conclusion to the Zverev v Frtiz match is shown on ch7

Wth lol konta tends to complain about something when she loses.

A few months ago she was annoyed with the umpire over a line call against Barty

Yeah the flying ants and the Fed Cup abuse situation were very much understandable.

However the Cilbukova thigh, Barty line call, French Open media spray and the WADA drug testing complaints seem a bit over the top

That was only a couple of weeks ago. Her meltdown was hilarious. She went on about how the unpiring has a direct impact on their lives!

Yes that one! Lol I was trying to find the footage but I'm watching football now
