Which is true.He was so far ahead of federer before he got injured it wasnt even funny.

lol u really expect someone to say that???? no even johnny mac would say that. Get a clue.

I course I don't expect him to say it you. It would be accurate but disrespectful so of coruse he wouldn't.

Rafa did indeed have a big lead built up whilst taking advantage of Roger's recovery from glandular fever and now Roger has regained No.1 taking advantage of Rafa's overly demanding playing style and the inevitable injury resulting from overly physical play making up for lack of talent.....what goes around comes around.

Accurate??????? when he was 3 points away from losing the match, it would be accurate to say roddick will never beat him ever? ffs you are a tool mate.Roger is arrogant but not as arrogant as you are.Going by some of ur predictions you have made, i said that before, i will take it with a grain of salt.If you are at a job, i am sure they dont pay you to predict anything do they? otherwise, god help them

he had problems with his knee all throughout his life, when he was a kid.Why dont you understand this point? its not his playing style.Agassi had problems with his knee, roddick STILL has tendonitis on his right knee, its not uncommon. Rafas knee caps are born defective, its not his fault. But he will be back to have another egg on ur face :thumbsu:

Lack of talent?
13>7 , 5>2 :thumbsu:

Must say I was wanting Roddick to win that and I'm extremely disappointed he didnt. Still no denying Roger performed when the pressure was on.

Good god you Federer haters are absolutely pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

Every week I come on here and barely see any comments on his tennis play, just a word by word dissection of his speeches and press conferences trying to make him sound arrogant.

Well Done Roger.

Well done Fed. Well bloody done!

Kudos to Roddick. Who knew he had the mental strength to push and push and push like that? The mentally fragile Roddick of even 6 months ago would have crumbled after losing the 2nd set. This will either break him or make him. Would love to see him win another GS.

Great work by Fed though. Everyone thought he was finished and that everyone else - not just Nadal - had caught and surpassed him - proven the doubters wrong. Champion in the true sense of the word.

Yeah "I was in your shoes this time last year i know what you're going through".

How ****ing arrogant is that. What a stupid prick. Andy didnt seem that impressed either.

This is all he said? My god what a bunch of sad pathetic ****ers you haters are. What else is he meant to say? How is that arrogant?

Well, I knew at 12:30am odd when I decided to watch it all the way through it would go to some ridiculous score in the 5th - and I'm suitably ****ed. Can see more sleeping on the desk than working on it today.

But the feeling of being tired, is outweighed by how gutted I am for Roddick. He played so wonderfully, and was disappointing to see him lose in such a tight match when he'd worked so hard. :(

I called choke when he dropped the 2nd set, but I'll retract that - because he bounced back in such wonderful fashion - which he certainly wouldn't have done previously.

Hopefully he can keep improving and win a few more GS.

It's amazing what one eyed hate can do to perspective. Federer's gracious recognition that Nadal's absence and consequence inability to gain any points, helped him back to No.1 is forgotten in the attempt to find evidence of arrogance.

He could have said "Andy will never beat me and Rafa has bartered a long career and crocked himself at 23 in order to have my No1 for less than a year" but he didn't. He shaowed grace and respect to two former world number ones.

having RF plastered in gold all over your clothes and wearing a jacket with '15' on it is totally arrogant i'm sorry. I think you're the 'one-eyed' one around here

Who cares who is arrogant. Just wouldve been nice seeing someone win their first wimbledon after two failures, rather than someone winning their their sixth.

Do please try to stop the boring repetition of words like "w***er" "tool" etc etc when people disagree with you. It makes you sound like an oikish teenager.

A man was a set down and 2-6 in a second set tie breaker but you see no courage or achievement in coming back. Your prerogative. Some of us think it a fantastic achievement from a man who is past his stellar best but still a fantastic shot maker and player.

For information:

Total winners Federer 107. Roddick 74. Usual comfortable Fed lead in almost every match he plays

Unforceds Federer 38. Roddick 33. Usual relatively high unforceds count from Fed. Concentration always an issue.

1st serve win % Federer 89% Rodick 83%
2nd serve win % Federer 57% Roddick 41%
Receiving win percentage Federer 30% Roddick 23%

The stats show us that Federer won through a better ability to follow up his second serve and a better ability to return Roddicks serves both 1st and 2nd allied to greater winer hitting ability both from serve (50 V 27) and in play ( 57 V 47) counteracting a propensity to give away above par unforceds 38 V 33).

Federer is losing it. He's gonna have to make the most of Nadal's injury because when he comes back Federer wont win another GS.

Fantastic match :thumbsu:

Can't really say the better player lost, because they were both as good as each other. If there was ever a match where nobody deserved to lose.....

Federer just played that tiny bit better on the clutch points. It's what champions do, and he's a champion alright.

Also, I don't think he was trying to be cocky at the end of the match. By saying 'I was in your shoes last year', I think he was just trying to tell Roddick that it's not the end of the world, and he can come back next year and win it, but whatever.

Also, full credit to Roddick to get back into it after that second set debacle.

It also shows what a great advantage it is serving first in the last set.

Federer was only one ace short of the record at Wimbledon set by Goran Ivanisovic. He fired down 50 aces.

Federer is definitely coming off the 2004/07 peak however don't make the asumption that Rafa can put his body through the work needed to regain number one for any lenghty period. Clay court dominance ishard earnednd often sees early burnout. Borg the most famous case in point but Kuerten etc likewise.

Fed knows he is sliding - he must know - and he will be slam hunting now as pete did in his last years. Whetehr Nadal can do likewise is at least open to conjecture. My own feeling is he will never win another major and is quite likely crocked. Clay is a cruel master.

I don't like the guy, generally I find him very smug - but there was certainly nothing wrong with the speech. Thought they both handled themselves very well.

But that 15 jacket. Now that was arrogant. Not sure who's idea it was - but it wasn't a good one. Really didn't reflect well on him at all.

Does anyone here think Federer can win Wimbledon next year? yes ? no?

I get the feeling now, he will be relaxed and treat every tournament with a relaxed frame of mind.

Im not sure but if he keeps playing this its hard to say he wont win it again.

Quick question:

Were people calling McGrath arrogant when he put the '500 shoes' on in the 2005 Ashes?
Exactly the point I was going to make.

If you're good enough to take that many wickets/win that many grand slams, you have the right to wear whatever you want as far as I am concerned.

took my post right out of my fingers.

and what about Lara's bat he used after he broke the record?

its been going on for a while and for us to bag them when we will never be in the same situation is mega sour grapes. you have to make the most of it while your on top and in this day and age you need to keep your sponsors happy.

Yes, they were.

But McGrath was always a tool, so it wasn't surprising when he did it either.

and what about Lara's bat he used after he broke the record?

and Lara was Mr. Ego himself.

I agree he'll probably be a bit more relaxed now. He was close to the record for the past 12 months but looked like he may not get to it. Now hes got it, he could be more relaxed and in my opinion, that will make him more dangerous.

I just finished watching the match then on Fox (thanks to Southern Cross not having the rights to show it live last night) and im buggered if I know why people think Roddick was clearly the better player. Maybe early, but in the last set he was hanging on by the skin of his teeth and Federer was constantly pushing Roddicks service games to deuce.

Couldnt imagine something beating last years epic but this one did. I dont see Fed as being arrogant and Sampras has called him very humble and the greatest ever. Thats good enough for me. Fed will go down as one of the best sportsmen of all time.
