I didn't use to rate him, I thought that he would get the ball and then just try and run without really considering if that was the best thing to do. He used to run himself into trouble and then cough it up with poor disposal.

But wow, has he changed, he now uses his speed as a just another string to his bow, rather than his only string. He tackles and wins the hard ball and has the speed and skill to move the ball quickly into the forward line.

Well done Winders. Well done Sheeds, glad they had more patience than me.

Flat out thought he was a dud, but could not be happier to be proved wrong. The wonderkid has been sensational so far this season, hopefully can do it consistantly.

I've always been keen on Winders because he has great pace and is a beautiful kick of the footy. The last 4 or so years has always been under a bit of an injury cloud, and has struggled to cement a spot in the team because we were at one stage a 'Finals Footy' team. Also, the fact that Sheeds went through a stage where he played young blokes for less than half a game, and because they didnt really have an impact, dropped them the next week.

Winders has improved on the field because during the off season he took a leaf out of Jobe's book and worked on his fitness during the off season (particularly his running capacity) and now ranks up there with Stants in that department. Throughout the preseason and the last 2 weeks, he's ran his guts out to create space and to provide his teammates with first use of the footy, and he's tackling more and getting in and under the packs (something which he didnt really do).

He is...watched him closely for a while yesterday at training. He glides along the turf and unleashes his kicks at full pace...straight as a die.

Great young player:thumbsu:

Question but....on 3AW on sunday, they were pronouning his name Wunderlick, without being smart or anything, they sounded serious!

Its not said like that is it???

as in wunderbah! (sic)

He's cemented his spot as a pivotal part of our future and hopefully will dash through the midfield and deliver the footy lace out to Scotty and Lloydy on the lead! Well done Jason and Go Bombers:thumbsu:

He's improved his fitness because for the first time he's been at the club, he had a pre-season
laycock got a 2 year deal as well. Already looks like paying off

Looks like he will become a key part of our midfield.

He has barracked for the bombers since he was a kid with James Hird as his favourite player. He has said that his aim for the year is to earn James' respect as a player.

He is also a country boy from Thorpdale in Gippsland which is slightly surprising as Thorpdale is a spud picking town so you would expect it to produce in and under midfielders.

I know I will probably get blasted for this but against Carlton he just seemed like Chris Judd. Takes his time, knows when to increase his foot speed. Liking this kid in 07, big improvement. Hopefully he will continue to run and carry the ball which he is most known for which is most damaging to the opponents as shown against Adelaide/Fremantle.

He is Judd like in some facets of his game. In reality, all he lacks is the inpeccable disposal and the ability to read the game like an open book with really big writing. He also needs to get a bit stronger. I can see where your'e coming from though

I just can't believe his transformation from a nothing footballer to one of our top midfielders. His skills have improved out of sight, his confidence levels have increased 10 fold and he can run all day.

It just shows you how much football is played 'in between the ears'. Now we just need Johns to do the same thing. The guy has a body that could run through a brick wall, he could easily become a gun FF he just has to believe.

you could see how much effort he gives everytime he came to the bench. he was absolutely stuffed everytime he came off. he just leaves it all out on the field.
