What's a good linux O/S? Ive heard a few names, but what's the most definitive most popular, robust, user-friendly one out there?
Also, can Linux be installed on MAC (just to try), and again, best Linux one for MAC.

The Most popular and probably most user-friendly = Ubuntu.

Robust is a different question however you will find that Ubuntu is shitloads more robust than anything M$ can release.

There is a MAC version that can be installed just fine on a mac.

Can't hack change? Ha. Before I go any further I would like to say outright that I hate M$ products. Not just a general dislike but genuine hate.

I don't use M$ products (I am currently running OpenSUSE11) and I highly doubt I ever will.

And before you so "Oh but you're an I.T. guy and you have the know how to learn a new OS" there is a saying I'd like to quote "Don't knock it unless you have tried it." And I don't mean "Yeah I tried it back in high school 12 years ago", I mean if you are prepared to install Windows7 before its even released you should be prepared to try a Linux install too.

Want to know the cost for a Linux OS? $0.

Want to know the cost of OpenOffice (That does EVERYTHING MS Office Does? $0.

Want to know what the cost will be next year for the upgrades? $0.

Its free. And it works. And I can change my OS however many times I like and it'll still be free.

If you say "I couldn't be bothered to learn the difference" then I would take your quote from above and put it here again.....

Microsoft lovers really need to open their eyes.

WOW, you sound like the life of the Party Troj ;)

No that is the standard thing they do every time they release a new OS.

strange that isnt it :)

how many upgrades of mac os software there has been and they pay for it just the same way, sometimes even when its just a patch.

but oh no mac wouldnt patch critical updates.

W7's biggest problem on release to the masses will be convicing people that even though it kinda looks and feels like Vista, GEEEEZ does it have a so much improved engine under the bonnet

Vibe for me talking to my clients has been that "if it looks like Vista. it must be Vista"!!....I'm trying to convince them otherwise but it's proving difficult :(

.................I'm Patient :p

I saw this over on Mashable. I have never laughed so much. That could possibly be the lamest thing I have ever seen come out of Microsoft and I once had to turn on a machine that had Vista on it.....

If it looks like shit, smells like shit and tastes like shit but Microsoft say that its not shit......

Depends on who's doing the looking, smelling and tasting really......very subjective I guess......
I'm not sure what you hope to achieve here Troj but coming onto a thread dedicated to a Microsoft product and bagging it isn't really a smart way of doing things....
Maybe you need to start a " I love (insert OS of choice)" and praise it's glory, maybe then you might get the exposure you're desperatly after???
