You take a chance with DHGate. SOmetimes you'll get legit stuff, sometimes you'll get fakes.

I have bought a few things off there - some DVD boxed sets - I got Stargate SG-1 10 season boxed set - legit. I got Smallville season 1-7 boxed set - fake.

I bought my win XP from there and it's legit.

I have also bought a 16gb flash drive that was a 4gb one hacked to look bigger. - the good thing with this one was that DHGate keep the cash until you confirm receipt of item as described. Thus I reported receiving the fakes and they gave me my money back (I didn't even have to send them back - I repaired the hack, free 4gb drive!).

Remember though, unless they claim it's legit, you won't get your money back if it's fake.

I just searched DHgate, there's one seller who openly states it's a cracked edition. $50 US.

Another one is charging $100 US for serial numbers only, which he emails to you.

They're all new users with very little feedback, that's gotta be a worry.

Also I've seen a genuine edition of 7600 on bittorrent, Ultimate, but it's the serial number which is all important. You can install it and trial it I guess until the activation prevents you using it. Basically you're paying for the serial number, not the DVD.
 
^^ I installed Ultimate over my Vista Home laptop as an upgrade without any problems. I don't know what an 'upgrade version' is though, I know I used a complete version.

Should not matter AG. An upgrade should work with XP and Vista regardless of which version you have. Just make sure you have the right structure though. 32 bit/64 bit.

I thought it was possible to go from a 32bit to a 64bit upgrade but just a little more tricky

Not with an upgrade, I've tried it myself, and it doesn't work. If you want to upgrade from a 32 to 64 , you need to do a full reinstall.

An upgrade only works with the same structure.

No. If you are currently running a 32-bit version of Windows, you can only perform an upgrade to another 32-bit version of Windows. Similarly, if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista, you can only perform an upgrade to another 64-bit version of Windows Vista.
If you want to move from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows Vista, you'll need to back up your files and then perform a custom installation of the 64-bit version of Windows Vista. For more information, see Installing and reinstalling Windows.

I installed mine this morning, my fave thing so far is the snapping of windows on either side of the screen.

If you do a backup using the Backup function in Vista, can you restore that same backup using the Restore function in W7? This would be for a situation where you want to backup all your working files on Vista to a particular (non-OS) hard drive before doing a fresh W7 install on the same drive that Vista is running on at the moment.

Hey guys,

quick question, I have vista ultimate on my laptop which i use for everything (work and play) and was going to upgrade to W7, do you think i need to go to ultimate or should i just get home premium?

I don't do much networking, just wifi at home and plug into cat 5 linked to a router when at my business.

Apart from domain join, bit locker and xp mode, i couldn't find many other differences???? But i'm not sure if this is accurate?

Why don't you compromise and go Professional??
I decided that whilst Ultimate would be nice :) Professional will do the job just nicely :thumbsu:

price difference is not much between pro and ultimate. I'd prefer to either go the whole lot or the home if i don't need the added proultimate features.

just installed home premium on an older centrino duo laptop works great

gotta love torrents

will install ultimate on the home pc

Here in Perth the difference is about $80 between Pro and Ultimate and given how low the roll out prices so far, that appears to be pretty big.

I always been the "biggest and best" when it comes to software because I usually got it illegally :eek: but at $177 OEM.....shit I reckon W7 Pro is the Wy2Go!:).....thats what I'm doing :thumbsu:
 
Which version has the biggest firewall?

I was mucking around with one on the demo version and it was almost server like in its capabilities.
 
just acquired a copy of ultimate today. Installed with no probs. Its very slick and I'm happy that vista is a thing of the past.

not sure whats different about the 'ultimate' version. I'd say the 'home' edition would satisfy 99% of users
 
I'm sure that XP Mode would be perhaps the only reason to go from Home Premium to Professional.
 
Meh, W7 is making my laptop run like a box of shit. It's a 1.6GhZ, 2GB RAM and should run reasonably well but it doesn't, shut down and boot up takes forever, getting all kinds of weird lags and crashes, and error messages I've never seen before but when I google them the only hits I get relate to XP ("There is not enough quota to process your request" or some crap). I'm going to try doing a clean install (I upgraded previously) as soon as I can empty some crap off the hdd and if that doesn't work then it looks like back to Vista for me :(

Glad I didn't buy a copy...
