LOL, the builds are coming out so often now it's KILLING my download limits :p
Microsoft have said that nothing will change from 7100 to the official release, so don't expect any more really. Maybe an RC2 in a month or two with some major bug fixes, but that is abut it. No more new features or anything of the sorts

Downloaded RC Build 7100 last night, will install it tomorrow. Apparently it can't be installed over previous builds, needs to be a fresh install?

And 7100 is active till March 2010, unlike most of the other builds which are only active till August this year :thumbsu:

I'm pretty sure you can upgrade from previous versions except 7000.

Yeah, get over a year of free Windows :thumbsu:

Downloaded the 7100 Build last night and installed tonight and I must say I'm very impressed with how well it is working so far. I've gone straight from Vista to this and have had no problems whatsoever with drivers or programs.

Seems slick and easy to use. I love the new taskbar with icons instead of long bars with the program name.

Is there an official download, or is everybody just torrenting?
I've been torrenting but the official RC download is now available from MS:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dd353205.aspx

Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on July 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You’ll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use.

OK, so I did a fresh install of 7100 last night and at first glance I can't see any major differences from 7000. The only one that I can recall is that on 7100 I now get "compatibility warning" messages when I installed certain apps like Acrobat and Nero which I didn't get on 7000. My install of Nero 7 actually failed towards the end, so I had to download Nero 9 which installed fine.

Unfortunately Win7 doesn't recognise my ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 video card and I'm stuck with the Standard VGA adapter which sucks. No luck on the ATI/AMD and Toshiba sites to locate drivers for it either. Had a quick look on Google but couldn't find any solution. Any suggestions?

How are people activating their 7100 builds? I tried that Orbit application that's floating around the web but it didn't work for me, so as of now my copy only has 30 days of activation left :(

Been using the 7100 build for about 2 weeks now, had a few problems lots of blue screen crashes etc. But seems to have settled down now, not sure what was going on. I will download the official 7100 build tonight, but yeah been pretty impressed with Windows 7.

Do we have to activate further than entering one of the codes that you got for the first beta release? I grabbed one before they stopped issuing them and have kept it until last night. It said everything activated fine and I can now receive updates. Is that all I need to do?

Rod that orbit activator won't work. If you try and install MSN or things like that, it will come back with a message that says tat Windows is not genuine etc. Just use the serial numbers from Microsoft, make sure you use X86 for X86 and X64 for X64.

Which serial numbers from MS are you referring to? Where to fetch them from?

When you get a key,Windows Update should work, and there will be ab update from ATI waiting after you check for updates that will solve your issue.

Keys can still be retrieved from the Microsoft or Technet sites.

Won't matter which key. They are interchangeable, so x86 and x64 won't matter.

I'm going to download the RC now. How is the thing so far with you guys?

Very good. It is pretty much exactly what people will be paying ridiculous amounts of money for in 6 months.

Rod I downloaded the RC from the site http://windows7.com
After I clicked on download it asked me to log in with a "live" account so I used my ancient hotmail one and it gave me a product key.

Unfortunately I'm sick at home today so the key is sitting on my desk at work and seeing as I have the next 5 days off I won't be installing it any time soon.

Will do it at work on Wednesday and let you know how it goes.

I'm still going strong with release 7000 and didn't install too many programs on it.

1 thing I do want to know. When Windows 7 is officially released how will we upgrade it from 7100? It would be a pain to have to reinstall everything that has built up over 9 months.

The company that we do deskside support for is about to rollout vista (for around 35,000 employees) so I'm looking forward to that :(

Downloaded the offical release of Win 7, and must admit it's very impressive. Stable and runs about 40% faster than Vista, with none of the memory hungry issues etc. Also no compatibility problems either, only problem was google Chorme but sorted that out now.

What was the issue with Chrome?
