Chad is a symptom, not the disease. Trading him now, while he has career low value, would be entirely irresponsible. First real form slump of his career which has yielded BnF and AA honours and people are happy to see the back of him!?!? Utterly ridiculous! It's on the coaches to help him through this patch and reignite the spark.

Agree on symptoms/disease. I'm sick of seeing him throw his arms back like he is the victim, and stop chasing and hunting like he used too.

To me he looks less agile. I don’t know, he also seems to have that general stiff look about him I see in boak.

He was brilliant, is a shame the rest of the squad isn't more like him. You could clearly see that wasn't a player doing everyone to win the ball and move it forward like Hammer normally does. To put it bluntly looked like a player who was thinking, "**** THIS" - clearly frustrated.

Hammer used to be another of the whipping boys on here but he has really turned himself around over the past few months. Great work Hammer.

A few years back he was deserving of a run in the twos. So glad we kept him, can hold his head very high after his performance, very much in the spirit of Port Adelaide.

Its not "his body" more specifically his tank, doesn't have the speed either. If he did he'd be one of the best mids going around.

Speed is not an issue for some - look at Priduss, Mitchell, Tom Mitchell etc if you get the ball enough of the times. By body I mean every thing.

Wingard is just the latest addition to the list of players at our club that at that age of 22 to 26 they stagnate instead of excel.

PORT Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley isn't overly concerned with Chad Wingard's below-par start to the season and is confident the two-time All Australian is close to recapturing his best football.

The Power forward/midfielder has struggled to have an impact in the opening five rounds of the season heading into Saturday's clash with North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium.

Wingard, 24, is averaging 17 disposals a game, down from 22.2 last season when he was moved into the midfield.

He has kicked only five goals in as many games and is averaging 3.2 inside 50s – down from five a game last year. But he is in equal sixth in the League for goal assists with six.

However, the most alarming statistic is the fact Wingard has made only three tackles this season.
