It was something to do with Bankwest giving 16 local companies the chance to be a sponsor on a player's jumper, Langdon explained it all at HT.

What has happened with all of this? Has the actual club responded at all?
What about Gary Stocks has he said anything?
Yeah Stocks said a few weeks back something like it wasn't on the agenda at the moment but their were a few there campaining for it, or something along those lines. So I guess if it's not even on the agenda, we have little to no chance of it comeing through next year if this whole "the AFL needs 1 year notification to change jumpers" is true. Long live the tri panel and clash:drunk:

Cheers Mike,

I just sent the following email to the club.

Last year many people were involved in a survey about the jumper we wear in our home and away games.

This survey unanimously showed our Royal Blue jumper as our Home Guernsey and the Yellow Peril as our away Guernsey.

Almost a year down the track and again the club has not done anything. No contact with its members or supporters in regards to this issue.

Our ridiculous Tri-Panel Guernsey continues to be worn and it continues to be the major talking point on game day how poor a Guernsey it is.

One would think a club which charges us Members more than any other club in the entire country, yet still provides wooden seats for us to sit on just for once might listen to their members.

The vast majority want this as our home Jumper

And this as our away/clash jumper.

My information is that this is not on the agenda still and the club has done absolutely nothing again???

The club said a year ago that it takes a year to get through the AFL system for a jumper change, having said that it doesn’t seem to take a year for the indigenous jumper???

These jumpers that all members and supporters want have already been approved, we have played in them for years.

It is becoming increasingly frustrating at how our club operates, we were once much better than we show these days.

Can you please listen to your members and supporters?

Spot on mate!! Let's wait for the generic "the club values the opinions of our members, blah blah blah" response. I especially liked the bit about charging us the most of any club, and still having to sit on wooden seats:D

As a Swans fan the rivalry is intense. But even a Swan fan seeing the Eagles in their classic designs it makes it more intense and nostalgic. If Brisbane and Western Bulldogs can change their designs via their members voices why can't the Eagles as well. #returnthewings
I know what you mean, I was gutted that we had to battle you guys in the tri-panel on the weekend and it wasn't the classic blue and gold v red and white jumpers of the great grandfianls of 05-06.

Can we please play you at the SCG in 2015. I want a reason to go to Sydney without being stabbed in the western parts.

Only if they returnthewings.
no shit how much better does a football spectacle look when there are two teams with very contrasting colours on the screen and at the game!!!!

Pity the umpires wanted to be one of the two teams...... Still shits me how they say that there are three teams out there these days.

This was The Eagles response to my letter.

Dear xxxxxxxx,

Thanks for your email around our guernsey design and please do not assume that no communication around this issue with the members means that we have stopped talking about it internally.

Just a couple of things I’d like to point out, the on-line survey was not unanimous in its choices, but it was overwhelmingly in favour of a return to our traditional guernsey. The push by the “Bring Back the Wings” group was quite powerful and my personal view is that I agree with the campaign. To change the guernsey design for your home and away strips, you do need a 12 month lead-up. It is different for a one-off “event” guernsey like the Indigenous round guernsey and the AFL encouraged every club to embrace that concept. Suppliers, in our case Puma, also need some lead time to manufacture new home and away jumpers.

I understand your frustration because you have not seen any public comment on the matter, but that does not mean the brakes have been applied. The on-line survey saw a significant number of members and fans put their views and that data has been presented to the club Executive and Board, but we also have a large number of members who are not technologically savvy that need to be given the opportunity to have some input. This is not happening as quickly as you would like, but the issue is not being ignored. It is a major issue and it needs careful consideration.

Regards,

Gary Stocks

Thats a rather encouraging sign, especially if Stocks isnt bull sh*tting and genuinely does agree with the wings being our full time jumpers.

Stocks has always been for it.

That rules out the wings returning next year though.
Not neccesarily, he made the comment about the 12 month thing, in response to the fact we bought out an indigenous round guernsey quickly, just stating that you need 12 months normally, but 1 off's are much quicker, I didn't read that part as saying it's not happening any time soon.

He said in the last bit about no public comment, well we all know that even if the decision had been made, they are not going to tell us now that the jumpers are changing for next year. That would kill majority of sales for the rest of the season, it would be bad business to announce it now.

I personally don't reckon it's going to happen either but I don't think we can say for sure that Gary's email states that.

Gary has been quite vocal in his support all the way through, I suspect the marketing department of the club have different views though. How they can think the club having three jumper designs that have absolutely no consistency (apart from the logo) is a good thing still baffles me.

Anyway, good to see it is still bubbling away in the background. I suspect this will require a renewed grass roots push.

The good thing for us is that those who are not particularly tech-savvy supporters are likely older fans, and as such they too will probably be in favour of returning to the vintage west coast jumpers that they have seen so much success in. To me it's a no brainer, we should be wearing our original golden wings jumper, the first ever worn by the club, and the royal blue jumper in which we won 3 flags. Anything else just doesn't make sense.
