Environment Winter vs. Summer

As we head into summer the usual avalanche of facebook statuses praising the increasing sun and heat of begin.
But i do know many people who HATE summer because of the heat, lack of winter sport, and some girls miss the winter fashion.
I am not one of those in love with summer but i probably have fonder memories of it purely because thats when school or uni break always is. I prefer footy to cricket so i miss that, and ****ing hate the flies and heat, plus being about half an hour away from the coast i don't go to the beach a heap either.
So what is the GD board's favourite season?

Summer does get ridiculously hot, but its been such a long and extended winter in Melbourne, never one to overlyhype up summer, but have been looking forward to it.

I want summer to come asap.. i need to have a few bowls/hits in cricket and definitely hit the beach sometime in the near future

Although i've always been a summer person.. cricket season and the aus open. There are way more things to do during summer than winter.. the only thing i like about winter is the footy season and thats it. I'm just sick of all the crappy cold weathers atm

the worst thing when its hot is that theres sometimes nothing you can do, whereas in winter its easy to just wear more clothes. if i could get something approaching a tan this summer though id be very happy.

Winter easily. I really hate the heat and feel sick in it. Although i do love that you can play cricket in summer. I love the cold and can wear shorts and a t shirt in under 10 degrees easily.

I'd choose summer seeing as I can go surfing and relax at the beach whenever I want but living in Adelaide I can only go to the snow once or twice a year. So summer for me with the flies and mosquitoes being the only thing that gives me the shits. Plus I love going out on a nice summer night into the city, much better than it being wet and cold.

I'd probably prefer winter. More nights in with mates at their houses than having to go somewhere neutral as usually is the case.

However, now that summer is upon us I have missed taking the dog for a walk in the beautiful morning weather as opposed to walking it in the rain.

My ski racks are a semi-permanent installation on my car in winter, so it's a no-brainer for me.

That said, winter in Melbourne is truly grim. Even I couldn't wait for summer when I lived down there. In the northern states in particular, many people find the temperate winters much preferable to scorching heat and soaring humidity of summer.
