Hows this for a wizard cup side .Bearing in mind that it will probably as a chance to give the young players a game whilst resting the senior brigade.
S Motlop S Watt L Brown
D teage D Morrell J Sinclair
M Stevens D Smith L Harding
D Motlop D Petrie J Baird
C Jones D Hale S Grant
M Porter B Robbins T Makepeace

S Clayton B Rawlings R Crowe(for tash) D Harris plus a couple of senior players.

Not a bad young line up ,i dont think they will play Arch and Stevo and the like in the early games .
What do others think cheers

My "New North" side, including some of the younger players who haven't had enough opportunity or who haven't yet consistently reached their full potential, with a couple of older ones who have recently joined the team.

B: D Teague L Brown J Baird
HB: S Motlop S Watt J Sinclair
C: M Stevens D Harris D Wells
HF: D Motlop D Petrie D Morrell
F: C Jones D Hale L Harding
Foll: M Porter D Smith B Grima

Int: R Crowe (BP) C Urch (HBF) H McIntosh (FF/P) A Watson (W)

Right now, this wouldn't be realistic of course, not even in a Wizard Cup match. You'd need a bit more experience with an Archer and probably Makepeace in the backline (or Colbert/McCartney), Stevens and/or King somewhere between HB and HF, Rocca in the forward line, Harvey for pace and experience in the midfield, and Grant. Not to mention Robbins, depending on team balance.

On the whole though, it begins to look unrecognisable from the "Team of the 90's" eh?

FB:SMotlop Brown Crowe
HB: Teague Baird Sinclair
C: Wells Grima MStevens
HF:DMotlop Petrie Jones
FF:Harding Hale Morrel
Ruck: Porter Harris Smith
IC: McIntosh Urch Watson Watt

Hmm.. needs some changing but that will do for now

Poor pre-season performance and slow start to the season equate to poor membership sales.

We know JYD is going to give the kids alot of playtime during the year. I wouldn't be surprised if the side he fields in the pre-season is the team he thinks will provide the bulk of the stability for us this year.

That is, he will probably move players around and some will play in different positions. Also, some will play in new positions that have arisen by those retired or left the club.

They will be working all pre-season to put that competitive team together and the pre-season comp is probably where it will go through its paces to see how it will hold up.

There will be room for experimentation and there will be room to see alot of those players mentioned get time on the field but he has to get the key players accustom to their new positions, their new roles and playing as a team. That wont happen overnight.

If JYD is writing off the season before he starts and uses the next 2-3 years as just an extended training drill then it will be bad for the club. Bad for morale, bad for membership and bad financially.

A good start to the season, even if we cannot keep it up throught the year, is what we really need to get the supporters becoming members and going to the games.

I think JYD is well aware of the challenge before him both on and off the field.

That is my opinion at least.
