I'm sure many of you remember this theme park back in the day:

I was just wondering - did any of you actually go there? What were your experiences like? I'm sure there are some interesting stories! Never been there myself as a kid, but I wanted to know if all the talk of it being so shit is actually true. Or at the very least, terrible as it was made out to be.

God, I remembered the words from that second ad....

I remember wanting to go because a close family friend lived about 3 mins away and we'd always pass it, but it closed before we ever got around to it.

The important thing is they've kept the castle :p

A mate of mine worked there collecting tickets when we were teenagers (about 16 or 17 give or take).

He used to get a laugh out of the joint being full of divorced dads who had the kids for the weekend and were hoping like hell the kids would have a good time. Sadly most of them weren't.

Sounds like the kids liked it but the adults hated it so wouldn't take their kids there.

When you're a kid it doesn't matter that the helicopter doesn't go anywhere, you have an overly active imagination.

Then later in life the world around you serves to beat the imagination out of you by feeding you stark reality.

I'm never growing up. That's something for lame people that think they're somehow matured by going round and round the sun.

I went there one school holidays when I was 5/6.
All I can really remember of it was going on a ride they had named "The Red Baron" and eating lunch in an old tram that looked like it had been stolen from Wattle Park and dumped there during the night.

A few years ago when I was trying to pick up a chick, I told her that I used to be in a boy band & that we sold out Wobbies World. Can't believe she bought it!

Anyway, I regret never going there. Sometimes when things are so shit, they are awesome.

I grew up in Forest Hill right by there. Was going to go once but we got there and it was closed. No Internet I guess in those days to check opening hours. Opportunity missed. I went to Disneyland a year later when I was 7 but surely it doesn't hold a candle to wobbies world.

Is this what transpired that day:

having been to many such parks worldwide i can tell you nothing triggered the imagination like WW

Only know Wobbie's World from The Late Show (Who's a lucky camel?) :)

I definitely remember Puzzle Park - was a nice day trip as a kid and a good excuse to go to Murray Bridge. Don't think it survived that public liability insurance blowout of 2001-02.

Yeah growing up in the eastern suburbs, it was my dream as a kid to go to Wobbies World. The ads made it out to be Disneyland-On-Springvale-Road.

A friend had a party there once but I had a really bad asthma attack and couldn't go! Absolutely spewing.

Agree Gumbuya Park was great. Lots of stuff to do as little kids, plus the go-karts and toboggans as you got a bit older.

The equivalent in Perth was Dizzy Lamb Park, I never went there but you could tell it was lame just from the ads.

I went a few times to the slightly less lame Adventure World though which is still open.
Dizzy Lamb was just like a animal/wildlife place though, wasn't it?

Adventure World is ok. Sure, it's not Disneyland, but it's ok. Supposed to be a new water park being built north of Perth too, extending what is currently "The Maze".

With Wobbies World, is that Wobbie, as in Robbie but pronounced like a pedo?

Dizzy Lamb had rides and stuff too, the name was a lame pun on Disneyland.

Adventure World is better now but back when it first opened it was crud and a rip off too, you had to buy tokens for each ride/activity. Now you just pay an entrance fee and can do whatever you like but the queues can be bad for the popular stuff.
