Wojcinski

Look the thing is Monica definetly has the pace to play on Davey but is it that vital? I mean the way he played today against Hawthorn was nothing short of abysmal and in my books he doesnt deserve the respect so many coaches give him. At the moment with Neitz looking doubtful Scarlett would obviously go to Robertson, possibly even Milburn which could even eliminate the need to have Egan in the team except for the fact that Jamar/White will play a role up forward.

However my pick would be to see Johnson or Rooke on Davey, correct me if im wrong but rooke had a brilliant tagging game last year on a similar opponent where everyone was singing his praises for the next week until he got smashed in the next game.

Point is save Wojcinski. Last game he showed he definetly had the pace and penetration we have so sorely missed since Moloney. Its possible that he could even play a Dane Swan type role and become an attacking half back which i think is what bomber wanted for him except for the fact he lacked in confidence. We all know that the kid has it in him after last week... just give him the chance to play that free role and pump it inside fifty and kick a few goals.

Surely Rooke needs at least a week in the VFL. He has missed 2 months of footy.

Big job for Djerkurra first up - but I can see Davey just burning DJ off as well. I reckon Djerkurra may be worth a shot - this would show a fair bit of imagination and courage from Thompson.

Usually J.Hunt gets the job on Davey and does it well. Hunt is deceptively quick and outweighs Davey by 30kg.

I'm looking for Scarlett to play a loose defender role this week against Melbourne. Egan takes Miller and always squashes him, and thats all they have if Robbo can't get up.

From memory Hunt did a good job on him a couple of years ago when they beat us at the MCG in a night game. Hunt was our best player that night and had a heap of marks. Hopefully Sat nights game will give him some confidence. He is very much a confidence player whose disposal and decision making is much better when he is up.

I reckon Melbourne may go with a smaller mobile forward line (ala Bulldogs) with maybe Yze, Davey and Bruce up forward.

p.s. good to see we have smoked the peace pipe!!:)

if he plays a bad game, yes, he mad mistakes against carlton that if against a good team and the game was tight could have 2-3 goals.

i am not ad nauseum on ling like you are on woja.

His mistakes are being singled out 'ad nauseum' at the moment because he seems to be the target of the month. Although at times it is warranted, every single mistake is being scrutinised when others are making some shockers as well.

Compare Darcy to what he was before hand to now. Darcy was a star a few years ago.

Wojcinski was not.

I was being sarcastic about Darcy being a crap player!!

So, Darcy is allowed to feel his way back and look out of sorts and lacking confidence because he was a star, yet woja doesnt have the same latitude last year coz he is just a handy player.

That is a Nick Sautner comment if there ever was one.

playing on in the defensive 50 and running into an opposition player is kamikaze. against a good team, a goal would have resulted.

but we should take this to the ling thread...

Last year we were attributing Wojcinski's shortcomings to his knee injury. But those shortcomings had been there his whole career.

I know you were being sarcastic about Darcy being a crap player.

Yes it is, a foolish error that could cost goals. I am not doubting that Ling makes them, just highlighting the fact that Ling's errors are being amplified tenfold compared to some other players.

Why would you consider dropping Egan? He was terrific on Saturday night and he's our CHB. That mystifies me.

For what it's worth, Hunt has done ok on Davey in the past. Thrashed him in the final in 2005 at the MCG. When we played them in a practise match this year Tenace actually played on Davey and killed him. So there are options.

I can't believe anyone is seriously considering Djerrkura for that role. As has been repeated often - he's a forward. Not a defender. Either Hunt, or David Johnson, or Wocjinski, or Tenace, anyone but him.

Will be Hunt or DJ IMO, unless they bring back Tenace (which they should - I have no idea why Byrnes is playing ahead of him).

Johnson is way too slow. If ashley mcgrath was giving him the run around then dj could be the confidence boost davey needs. johnson is dour not quick or agile.

tenace cant kick...in the VFL game he was appalling disposal wise.

byrnes is ****...i would rather see myself on the half forward flank than him. those two missed shots in the last quarter should be the nail in his footy coffin!!

DJ probably isn't quick enough, but if we aren't prepared to play Wojcinski on him, then there is really little else.

Tenace is quick enough, I didn';t think his disposal was 'appalling', but it has never been a strength.

Byrnes should not play again this year. Lord knows why he was picked anyway.

someone on this site said that he had improved, which i was hoping was the case, but he just butchered the ball. floating 30m kicks that have no trajectory or purpose. i was really disappointed as i had high hopes for him.

Easy fix.. Play J.Hunt on him like most other games and he won't get a touch. Hunt would be close to Davey's straight line pace, no one can match Davey's turning ability. DJ is too slow, plain and simple. Thompson wouldn't risk playing Wojcinski on Davey, far too risky due to Wojcinski's unaccountble past... same goes for Tenace and Byrnes.. those guys aren't defenders anyway. People don't give enough credit to the real defenders.. very hard position.

Wasn't it one-all between Davey and Hunt last year?

Davey had a day out in the earlier encounter if my memory serves...

I just had a look and Davey kicked 2 goals in the first game, and kept goaless in the second. Davey will need 5 for Melbourne to be a chance on Sunday. ;)

Wow.. I actually agree with you on this. See sometimes you really do make sense.:thumbsu:

Once again I agree with you, I object to you calling people idiots if their views differ to yours that all.

Ok, my apologies. I'll reserve it for those sad individuals who have nothing to contribute to the topics, and rather troll around attempting cause arguments.. (thehoff).
