Even though I don't follow either team, what a dramatic finish. 3 shots from the free throw line to win, all could have gone either way as they bounced around, especially the last
Bad luck 36ers, QT, like the wildcats, 36ers out of the run

What a sickening finish from a 36er fan's point of view!!! I thought we had it with 30 seconds to go....what an absolute bummer.

As if you can call that a foul!, the wollongong guy stuck his legs out and conencted with mee!

Ah well im proud with what we have achieved in the playoffs! sad to see Maley go, his experience will be missed :(

P.S WHAT A JAM BY NASH!
NEVER KNEW HE COULD DO THAT!

Yeah, I can imagine it would have been almost heartbreaking. Bet many nails were chewed off during the free throws!

Somebody's got it in for me I reckon, first Australia loses the test series to India in a nail-biting 3rd test match, then the Adelaide Crows lose in the dying seconds to the Demons and then the Sixers exit in the way they did. No excuses though, Hawks deserved their win, but I think we can consider ourselves a little unlucky with 2 one point losses against Woollongong. In Game 1 the refs didn't call the final second foul (which Thomas admitted he did commit) allowing the Hawks to capture the game and today the refs called the foul at the end (which was probably there). That's the way sports goes I suppose and good luck to the Hawks for the Grand Final series.

ANT!
Lifes a bitch at the moment aint it?

Well yes QT, sporting wise things are going pretty bad, but the way I see it, the wheel will turn and things will turn around eventually....hopefully...... :)

Hey QT,

Remember how I was telling you about my old basketball coach playing for the hawks last night in chat.

If only I knew that he was going to make those 3 free throws after the buzzer! :D

On ya Damon!

Gee, life isn't going to well for your sporting teams is it?

Don't worry QT and Ant, you've experienced the good times. I'm sure there will be more after the current slump.

Although being a saints fan, I don't know if that is true. :D

Great game and unbelievable finish. Sure used every part of the rim on those free throws ;)

Congrats to the Hawks, now I just hope my Titans can get up to take them on in the Grand Final.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

They were the three worst free throws I've ever seen. The guy was obviously s**tting himself when he shot them. But hey, at least Adelaide made the playoffs, as a Cannons fan I had nothing to cheer about all year.

We Jod, I didn't see the call clearly at first but looking back at the tape of the game this morning, though it was hard to tell, even with the slomo replays, Mee seemed to get all ball. This was confirmed in the paper this morning as well, by people who were there that Mee actually blocked Lowery cleanly, yet a foul was called. Either way Jod, you'd have to say it was questionable. However good luck to the Hawks in the Grand Final series, I'd rather see them win than the Titans or Crocs :)

Thanks Sainter, I've experienced the bad times sporting wise, then the good times, now back to the bad times. Couldn't be any worse than the pain Saints fans have had to endure for the past 40 years so your words are very comforting. You are a true gentleman. :) :)

Ant - i disagree, i saw the replays and i thought the foul was pretty clear. He got all ball but then he got body contact and got all over the arms of Lowery.

Its a dream Grand Final for me though, after the Wildcats went out i just hoped the 36ers and the Titans wouldnt win and now they cant :D

Roll on the Hawks.

Fair enough Jod, as "Bigfooty's Basketball Guru" your opinion is valued but I still don't think it's a clear cut foul. In fact, I don't believe there was a foul at all. Call it my Adelaide bias or the fact I have a pair of perfectly working eyes, but I saw no foul committed on Lowery. Having said that, go the Hawks in the Grand Final series!!

Aww thanks ant :) OK i thought the call was questionable and it certainly was either call it or let it go. I didnt see the whole game just the replays of the foul so im dont know what the trend of the game was. If they were calling everything then they had to call that but if it was a particularly physical game then it should have been let go.

I think the call though was very professional, if he didnt call it then there would have been uproar about the call. This way he put control out of his hands and into Lowery's. If Lowery missed the shots then i dont think the call would have been so scrutinized but its all over now and will go down as one of the best playoff games in history.

I mean talk about using the whole rim LOL

I'm no basketball expert, so can someone explain to me why the Sixers weren't allowed to line up under the basket when Lowery went for his free throws? If he was fouled before the shot clock went off, then there should have been time left. Stiffy or Nash would probably have deflected that last shot, forcing time-on. Interesting talking point here in Adelaide at the moment.

I know Jod, it was as if the finish was scripted, you know, like a movie. Pure torture it was, the last one looked for all money like it was going to miss, but it just bounced in. That's the way it goes.

Fair comment about the call too jod.

Thanks Ant, i was easier on us we knew we had lost with 30 seconds to go but for you guys .... hits the rim ... bounces .... bounces ..... out ... no in ... rolling .... rolling .... roooolllliiiinnnngggggg ....

Poor poor adelaide fans.

Crows54 - interesting point, it depends when the foul was called after the siren or on it or just inside it. If there was time on the clock, say a millisecond then yes they could have lined up and knocked it off the rim. But if there was no time left then they cant line up.

But surely if the foul call was made then that would imply that time was not up. If time was up then how could a foul be called...

It makes no sense.
