I've read all the threads with regards to daniel chick and his wife. well last nite i heard a rumor (which i can't substinate but several people told me the same story so it could be true)
at the end of 1998 geelong traded martin mckinnon and a draft pick to Brisbane in exchange for Tristan Lynch and Scotty Bamford. Bamford quickly became a favorite amongst Cat fans with his exciting play off the bench. So it was a shock to many cats fans (myself included) when Bamford was delisted at the end of the season. Questions were asked why he was given only one season before being axed. Well it turns out that his wife left him because she was miserable in geelong and moved back to adelaide (where they orignally came from) So Bamford had no choice but ask the club to release him from his contract for personal reasons and they obliged, so Bamford could try and resurrect his marriage. Now dont' get me wrong but Mrs Bamford if this story is true, is one selfish and self centered bitch who deprived all cats fans the magic of scotty bamford. And off course ruined his promising afl career. This yearBamford is doing well for North Adelaide this year. If you ask me, Bamford should just divorce the bitch

Mr and Mrs Bamford are both young and have 2 young children. It would be hard enough to be a player "widow" at the best of times - but to move to Brisbane with 2 very little ones then on to Geelong after that, when you are not much older than a child yourself, would be extremely difficult.

As much as you may disagree, I think she did the right thing. Welfare of Children comes before football, and if moving back to Adelaide was the best for them, then so be it. It also shows that Scott values his family very much, and must think she is far from a 'bitch' if he was willing to give up his career to be with his family.

That takes a great amount of Courage from such a young man.

Excuse me, Scott Bamford is 26 years old and i assume his wife would be around the same age, so i don't accept the argument that she wouldn't be that much older than a child ! gee whiz, she (ann Bamford) refused to support her husband's important career, i'm sure her kids would be upset that their father could have been a legend down at geelong, but no, she missed all her friends in adelaide, self-centered, selfish cow. I mean if a chic did that to me, i would ditch her myself, footy players can have any woman he wants (just see how many girls crowd around spriggsy in bars, i have). NOw Bamford didn't deserve what she layed onto him, GFC fans didn't deserve it, i can only hope now that any good recruit that we pick up from an interstate club isn't married !!!

Well, if he thought she was treating him like a bitch, then why didn't he dump her? He obviously is a big family man. He didn't think that he didn't deserve it. He thinks family first not footy. Besides, he still gets to play the game. It's not like he's had to ditch the game completely!

I heard several years ago, and it was told to me by an AFL club management person, that Scott Bamfords wife had a brain tumour.Everyone was concerned for her well being.
So please get your facts straight before you call someone a silly cow.

It just really hurts you know. I got really fond of 'Banger' playing in that no.22 jumper for Geelong. it just seems like such a waste of talent. I remember one sensational goal he kicked against the Western Bulldogs. He seemded to run non stop for about 100 meteres from the backline, took a couple of bounces and then drilled from about 40 meters out. it was bloody awesome. 'Ayresy' didn't give me much of a go later on when he was relegated to the Reserves, which is why i'm glad Ayres is now coaching Adelaide !, but Bamford could have become one of my all time favorite players, and a Geelong icon. i do hope he comes back and plays at afl level again (no matter which club) as i am a big wrap for this talented young man

If that is true what you say Andrew, than I truly am sorry. Byt that wasn't the version i heard ? If She does indeed have a brain tumor, i retract all i said about her, and apologize sincerely to all the bamford family. But how do i know what you say is true Andrew ? Can anyone else verify this tragic story on Mrs Bamford. I do apologize for calling her a cow, but i hope for her sake she doesn't have cancer - terrible disease

I hate to tell you, it is indeed true. The players and staff at the club he was at were very very concerned for her well being, apparently the prognosis was not good. They at that stage wanted to go home to Adelaide for the whole family support.

G4E you are a drop kick. You sound selfish as well because your only thinking what he could do for your club..
Family must come first and I admire him for going back to Adelaide to patch up his marriage.
I don't think anyone would want you as you sound like a sexist PIG

well maz i don't talk about footy with my girlfriends as i'm well aware they don't know the first thing about football. Most women (IE caroline wilson) who are reporters, commentators get into trouble with clubs because they don't know what the hell they are talkign about. Women are smart people, but when it comes to football, they are out of their depth

Not all women are DUMB you idiot. Iam a female and alot of people say i know alot about footy for my age. I even have my own column for a website. Don't bag females. You are SEXIST.

Well Excuse Me Richmondfan#1 but i'm willing to bet that your favorite richmond player is the best looking one as per voted by all female fans (ie Joel Bowden, Brad Ottens etc) this is the way most women think about football. Do u know why Essendon is so popular amongst Blonde bimbos in victoria ? nothing to do with tradition, nothing to bloody do with Sheedy, it's because of the pretty boys, Lloyd, Hird, etc, this maybe a sexist comment, but it is a true one, i don't know any geelong female fan whose favorite player this year isn't tom harley or David Spriggs (and i know a lot of geelong fans)
it is the truth, most women go to the footy to perv on the players

hey--geelong4eva--I think I am in love with you....

what are you doing next saturday night?

If you'll go out with me, I'm even willing to go and pick you up from the entrance to your cave

kissy-poos to you

Well excuse me g4e but my favourite footy player is Wayne Campbell. He is silky skilled with alot of talent. It is nothing to do with looks. Maybe other females feel that way towards players but I love watching the GAME and not players BUTTS.

g4e,
When i watch richmond on TV, I see alot of signs in the crowd such as "Campbell Kicks" or people wearing richmond guernseys with a number 9 on their back.
Not everyone agrees with you.

Sorry Richmondfan#1 but you are living in Gaga land. Not many intelligent people have come from WA (Alan Bond ??? HAHA) so obvioulsy you don't know the facts. Usually After every Richmond loss in Melbourne, irate Tiger supporters jam the MMM and 3AW switchboards bagging Wayne Campbell, if you don't believe me, come and live in victoria next footy season and go to a Richmond game. He is a much maligned player, and for good reason

Hey G4Eva you bloody idiot. How can you say that about the opposite sex. I go to football to watch the game. I don't care what a player looks like only how he plays the game. Don't bundle us women in the same basket. You get teeny boppers having crushes on players. So don't put me in that basket. Even more now I think you may be a teeny bopper.

G4E gee youve made an ass of yourself on a number of occasions, but I actually agree with you here on a couple points.

well sorta anyway, I believe that you will find most people who havnt played the game to struggle with really understanding it. I mean playing under 12's for a year doesnt really mean much, but playing footy upto a senior level really helps with understanding IMO.

Obviously females dont play the game, and I know, they can come up with some pretty stupid comments - but so can guys! Im not saying you have to play at an AFL level, but playing footy for a few years helps you understand a lot about the game. For what its worth I play at a state-league level.

On Campbell, I agree, he is a bit overrated and Id say doesnt warrent the sorta money I IMAGINE he would be on. I would not be suprised if Richmond trades him this summer. When it gets tough, and when he has to put his body on the line he goes missing at times. Daffy might go as well I think. This is, of course, if Frawley and his team are fair dinkum about long-long success for the Richmond Footy Club. They can use these sorta players to pickup some other good players who can help turn the team into a real finals contender, and not settle on mediocrity.

Also - your an idiot if you think a footy player should put footy before family. You dont know what Bamfords wife is like, or what problems they may be having. I spewed when we lost Wanganeen, but thats where he is from and his family and friends are there. If I was to play at AFL level, and was at an interstate club, I would return to Melbourne at the first opportunity I got! Nothing against a club or people there, but homes home!

G4E, just wondering what your take is on Bradshaw's absence today. Do you think he should be playing, or be with his lady Angie at the birth of their first child?
