The following isn't ideal ahead of the Ashes & World Cup - I know they've said they're waiting until after her surgery to put a return date on things, but would have to think Mooney will be unavailable for the Ashes, but a possiblity of being able to return for the WC which is about 44 days/6 weeks away

If they do rule Mooney out, who is most likely to take her spot, because we surely look at bringing in specialist bat rather than an all-rounder

The ABC article https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-18/mooney-injured-as-perry-awaits-ashes-call-up/100764104
suggests Redmayne or Villani as possible replacements for Mooney.

I agree that a specialist batter should replace Mooney, but recent history from the Indian series suggests that the selectors are willing to go into T20s with a top 6 that includes all of Perry, McGrath and Gardner, and then Carey or Wareham at number 7.

There's no dispute with Perry's excellent average in ODIs, but her career strike rate is poor, especially when compared to Healy, Lanning, Gardner and McGrath. Her position is "locked in", because there are so few alternatives in the named squad, and her brand name. Not because she scores quickly.

As for Haynes' record in ODIs and T20s, I think you are simply incorrect. Mooney's strike rate is higher in both formats. Ergo, I would prefer Mooney to open in both formats.
There's this strange idea in ODI cricket about having a balanced line-up of dashers and players who can re/build an innings, rather than just hoping a high career strike rate means you can consistently hit your way out of trouble.

Batting positions are largely irrelevant, particularly in the women's game - where batters are unlikely to be beaten by pace or swing bowling.
Nah. The lighter smaller ball used in women's cricket swings a lot more than the ball used in the men's game, hence it's essential to carefully position defensively sound players in the top 6 of ODIs wherein 50 overs can be a real tough battle for survival.

I thought McGrath's selection was brilliant.
Considering everything else you've said about the importance of strike rates...

McGrath has a WBBL career strike rate of 101 (lower than Haynes and Perry, and went at 82 in the season before that India series). Yet the claim is you thought, at the time, that the selection was brilliant. Something don't add up here.

If your argument was that Redmayne is an "opener", then why does it matter if she is selected in a batting position other #1 or #2, which you said would "upset the balance of the team." ?

Furthermore, I was expressing my disappointment that Redmayne was not selected when Haynes was unavailable for all three formats - not just ODIs.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that McGrath was/is selected for her provision of a bowling option. Or being deliberately argumentative? I am guessing the first one.

I'd put Lichfield in the squad , she is the future . I know they won't , i would love to see what she gets up too .

Not ready. She isn't and playing the A games is perfect, she's a good 2 years away.

I've never rated Campbell every time I've seen her hasn't been that impressive really control is non existent
An erratic teenage quick, what is the world coming to.

And forget 2 years, Litchfield is more like 2 months away from inclusion in the Australian team (i.e. when Haynes retires).

Way too soon on Lichfield, needs time to develop her game. She'll get there absolutely no doubt.

She will be given time to develop via exposure to international cricket, starting from the same age Healy and Gardner did (and a few months older than when Lanning first was picked).

Speaking of Campbell, and following on from a conversation in the India series thread (in which I reported her top recorded speed to that point in time was around 120km/h--equal to that of Sutherland), here is a summary of bowling speeds from the last WBBL season.

WBBL|07: 120km/h+ deliveries
Vlaeminck: 46 (top speed 126.0)
Campbell: 18 (124.3)
D. Brown: 12 (123.9)
M. Brown: 10 (123.7)
Perry: 6 (123.5)
Hancock: 4 (123.4)
Flintoff: 4 (121.5)
Kapp: 1 (123.5)
Prestwidge: 1 (120.2)

Keep in mind these recorded speeds come exclusively from the 24 matches covered by Ch7, and sometimes they don't put the number up.

Vlaeminck bowled about 100 balls on Ch7, so to have almost half (or possibly more) exceed 120km/h confirms she's way out in front in terms of consistent pace. Campbell did show that she had gained an extra yard since last season, which wasn't evident in the India series.

Anya Shrubsole didn't bowl so I guess something happened to her.

Didn’t she have a back injury recently?
I recall ankle and knee injuries last year, not sure about anything else. Laura Jolly tweeted today: "Shrubsole appeared to limp while batting then didn’t bowl." Haven't seen more info about it yet.

Is Queen McGrath in the test team?
Of course. It'll be pretty straightforward if there are no more injury/availability concerns. Probably just the no.7 spot to work out, for which Sutherland would be the frontrunner.
