Hayley Silver-Holmes seems to have grown more every time I see her, most recently standing next to--and making a weed out of--Grace Harris, no less. How big is this girl going to get (too big?), still only 16 and a couple months old. The bodies of these strange non-boy creatures seem to develop at different rates, so who knows. But gee it's like she eats a Delissa Kimmince for every innings break.
Speaking of DK, quite the favourable call to get Pez cheaply, which is always going to go a long way to beating the Sixers. Impact on leg stump and sliding well down imo. And to make that call I had 1) a decent camera angle; and 2) the ball deflecting to the on-side, to be clear.
Bridget Patterson has been sliding under the radar in general to an extent, but she's a quality player. Her WNCL record over the last 18 months or so has been pretty impressive too. Underrated cricketer
5-151 is a reasonable total for the Scorchers against the Thunder considering their early wickets. Sciver and Redmayne did a good job of recovering in the middle overs and Heather Graham followed up with a nice innings.
Penna for the Stars is bowling excellently with 3/19 off her first 3 overs against the Strikers. Only really Sophie Devine (49* off 48) has managed to stick around whereas all of the other batters have been getting short-ish innings but making decent enough runs.
A brilliant finish by Devine with 5 sixes in a row to get to 85* off 56 for the Strikers has got them up to a much bigger total than was expected and at 4/164 you'd expect them to be able to defend this against the Stars batting lineup.
Danni Wyatt finishes it off on 45* off 44 and brings the Renegades home with 26 balls to spare. Beaumont got out for 37 off 32 earlier and was instrumental in pairing with Wyatt to make the chase a fairly rudimentary one.
