AFL Toast won vs lolnorf?

My feelings on winning this game are like 10% happy we won because Merrett deserved it and 90% upset by the injuries and wanting updates on these injuries and wondering how ****ing awful we’re gonna be without Ridley and whether we even have anyone who can step up next week…

I don’t have room to care about north 🤷‍♀️

And yet you haven't beaten us in a decade. Like, the Geelong streak makes sense. They've been good whilst you've been shit. What's your excuse to losing to us? The last time you beat us half our side were literally blokes we picked from state leagues. Imagine being that shit that you can't beat Essendon for a decade. It must tear you up inside how pathetic your club is that you've lost 12 straight games to your arch rivals, who don't give a shit about you, who also have done sweet FA for 20 years.
As HirdsTheWord pointed out on our Essendon thread, all the spice has gone out of any rivalry (real or imagined) with us both being so shit for so long. Hard to see that changing for a long time too

That free kick was a disaster.

It was our free, should have been completely reversed.

I almost turned the TV off when they paid it to North.
I think someone said there's a rule that if 2 umpires pay frees opposite ways it's a ball up. Unfortunate for you that one of them ****ed it up completely, but at least it wasn't a gimme goal to rob you of the 4 points.

The umpire that paid the free to north shouldn’t get another game again. One of the worst non decisions ever would more than likely have cost us the game. Really was an unforgivable decision for an AFL umpire.

the initial one was called for the kick from konstanty, but the controlling umpire assumed it was from essendon? despite it being kicked towards norf's goal. i'm certain that it was umpire number 16 who's hopeless. i'm glad it was changed into a ball up but that made me seethe

The early update for last nights injuries;

“Jones dislocated his left ankle, that's the other ankle that he did in 2023. He was in the hospital post-game, there's no time frame at the moment but it clearly looks serious,” Morris told SEN Fireball.

Jordan Ridley will get scans today. Again, it's his other hamstring, not the one he did in the pre-season. They're hoping it's a standard hammy, but they're not quite sure yet.

“Gresham looks like an adductor and probably on the lighter side, so probably more a week or two.

I’ve actually enjoyed this season more than any other since 2016.

We’re shit. Everyone knows it. I think we need to keep that in mind when watching us. Just enjoy the future stars like Roberts, Reid, Caddy and Kako.
Agree. We are doing better win/loss than I expected.

Durham has the be added into that list. Bit older but only 23. Such a leader/bull last night when the game was on the line. 100% all the time.

Made some mistakes but they all wanted the ball and were decisive in decision making with the game on the line.

Caddy 2 weeks in a row has had most presence of any fwd.

Test for Reid to take ownership of backline with ridley out.

Our defense is better.

I finally believe in our mid/long term approach. Can see what we are trying to do.

Sucks for Jones but Cox can make that role his. Unrewarded running both ways. 10-14 positions a game and make a contest aerially.

Cox should be able to replace jones seamlessly if he is going to make it in the afl.

Looking at the list I don’t think we are shit, I think we are average. And we will remain average until the stars align with form, injuries and some more natural development from key players 23 and under. Just the same as it is with about 8 other clubs.

My frustration is having to watch Andy McGrath and Ben McKay for the next 6 years panic and cost us goals. They'll continue to let our talented kids down.

I'd look at it this way.

The more evidence they continue to put on tape that they are not up to it, the more chance they don't last and are booted out of the side if those in charge know what they are doing.

If they don't the team will continue being shit and it will show those in charge don't know what they are doing and they will be removed.

No matter what, something will happen.

Durham,Caldwell, caddy, Kako, Reid, Martin, roberts is a nice future group we are getting to see grow, throw in Zach elevating his game and a bunch of major injuries pushing the coach to select more players to expose to AFL and it should be an ok year hopefully capped off with some nice top 10 picks.

You guys have an Essendon thread?

Do you have a thread on each of the 16 other opposition clubs?

I was furious at the time, but not so much now.

We won the game, mistakes happen and umps have a very stressful job under a microscope to get things right.
I'd put that Sydney game with Rampy rocking the goal post as a more infuriating missed call by the umps.

Was sitting at ground level yesterday right on the wing, maybe I’m deaf but I sort of noticed that there was very little talk on the field. Usually you hear guys yelling and pointing to run/cover etc, and I saw pointing a fair bit from North when Merrett was resting forward, but neither team was talking or yelling stuff out much at all.

I have serious doubts that we are ruthless enough to give McGrath and Mackay the arse regardless of their performance. We will be stuck with the clown show down back like a hand brake.
