Prior committments kept me from the Gabba yesterday. Anyone tell us how the crowd was? Soaking up the sun or getting into the game? Did they still boo Libba? Hey Sbagman did you get people to sing with you?

I am so peeved I missed the game. Can't stand those scraggers. Would luv to have seem them lose!

Dodongo is happy. Dodongo is more than happy, Dodongo is surprised. Dodongo's eldest son Dodongo Jnr and Dodongo's wife thinks we can win the flag. Dodongo had different views at the start of the year, but Dodongo has changed Dodongo's mind.

Hello all,

Well, it was an obscenely gorgeous day in Brisbane... 25 degrees and sunny. Recovering from one of the worst hangovers in human history, we managed to walk over to the Gabba... the Gabba crowd was its usual self... subdued. Even more so sitting in the warm sun, everyone seemed to be falling asleep. Still, three voices was better than two, and with a friend of mine back in Australia, we got a few songs going. The best seemed to be "Alastair Lynch is wonderful", we even sang it as he walked past the boundary line... the problem, as ever, is that noone joins in... i guess i can't expect people to know the songs.... but we always get a few curious and/or amused glances.... we'll be back on Sunday of course....

Sbagman.

Yeah I may have to rephrase that one......Brisbane crowds are very boring compared to interstate (not that I've been to a game there), but they were really getting into Libba and that's quite something for a Brisbane crowd considering not many people seriously follow the lions up here.

I was at uni today and we were doing some get to know you stuff and I was the only Aussie Rules follower in the 30 person group. The tut leader said her went to a game in '98 (wooden spoon) and he said McDonalds gave out bigmac vouchers that could be claimed if Brisbane won, but they didn't, so he doesn't like the game anymore.

A premiership would really create some interest up here and it would be great if the Lions could be as well known as the Broncos. THis year we are miles ahead of them which is brilliant! My NRL following is for any team that is playing the Broncos each week. I really don't like them (mainly because they get all the focus the the Lions should be getting :D)

Two home finals would certainly start the media up here and who knows channel seven might even show a live game one day

final words:

GO LIONS!

I'm very sceptical of the idea of a premiership "creating" interest in a particular sport. You need more than a premiership to SUSTAIN that interest. Need I mention the Strikers?

:D Me too. Been very happy the last 3 weeks. :D

With the noise thing, I really have no idea how we could over come it. The Brissy supporters have got a little bit better, you notice how they do start to get the team going when things are getting a bit flat, like when the Bulldogs got in front on the weekend.

It'd be really great if we could get some of your chants going sbagman, they were great. We need one of those guys that get the crowd going, like they have at the basketball, until all of the Lions fans know how to get vocal.

I really think our supporters should learn the words to the song as well. The clapping sounds great, but all you can here is the record playing in the background.
