Wood needs to play

haha, actually had a little chuckle at that atavistic.

Back on topic, couldn't imagine Wood being much worse than a hampered Jolly and seeing as Mick likes to come to the defence of Wood a fair bit, i could imagine them making the call based purely on how Jolly is travelling with the injury, i reckon if he is less than 70% they won't risk it....or we could elevate Witts :p

Witts isn't on our rookie list, he's a scholarship player (not sure if you were serious or not lol)

If Jolly is anything less than fully fit Wood needs to play IMO, we can't risk injured players, Wood hasn't been too bad this year, he'll give a good account of himself.

If anyone saw my thoughts on Wood earlier in the year would know Im no fan. Big Cam did play a few good games towards the end of season and impressed me. Jolly has been serviceable of late not as good as usual due to injury I believe.

I'm happy to see Wood come in for Jolly if he is not right

Yep bring in Wood for Jolly. Or bring in a small and not have a ruck at the centre square and have an extra mid, that way it's easier to read Ottens' taps.

Imagine only one ruck going up for it? :p

But seriously, Wood is good enough to play, let him in, it'd be better than watching Jolly trying to jump.

if you were to ask me this question 2 months ago, my answer would of been i'd still prefer jolly even if he had one leg! Woody has proved that he is capable of rucking against the elite, i believe Jolly should not play, according to Doc Larkins, Jolly has about a 20% chance to play, please bring Wood in, lets show faith in the big boy. I for one have not over the years but i believe his time is now!

Imagine Wood with a premiership medal around his neck. Laughable.
There have been many before him, Tom Hawkins for one not everyone in a premiership team is a champion, but they were picked to play an important role for the team, and if Jolly doesn't play which in my opinion is a big possibility, as we know Malthouse does not play injured players in finals full stop no matter who you are, which means we need Wood. If we end up winning the granny without Jolly, it will mean that Wood played a serviceable role.

I agree with OP, play Jolly and Wood, put Brown in as the sub. Last game for Brown and he has shown the ability to kick goals in the last quarter, plus you get the feeling that if he starts he is just going to be trying to smash up bodies and it probably won't work against Geelong, he runs a little hot early. Is insurance in case Jolly can't play out the game and can go back if Reid can't (although I hope he can!). If they pull up OK and Wood is doing nothing you can bring him on in the last as a big fresh body and can also sub Dawes out if he isn't going too good. Think our runners are in better shape than our big guys so have to have a big guy sub, is perfect role for him I think as he hasn't done much lately but can probably pull it all out if we need him too.

Jolly as a stay at home forward could be dangerous.. should he kick 2-3 from the square and ruck for 20mins.. I wish we would have experimented more with this though, and not trail anything in a gf.

Wood/jolly rucking and L brown sub could work but i'd rather see fasolo as the sub especially if the players are out on their feet in the last quarter and the game is tight.

If wood jolly and brown all play i think we miss that run around the ground.

I don't mean laughable as in stupid or anything, I just never thought in a million years he'd be involved in our 2011 premiership tilt in that big of a way!

I guess the reason Wood has been kept ready for finals and played a bit this year is for insurance in case anything happened to Jolly, and something has....

Soz mate, misunderstood :thumbsu:

I don't think there's really any chance that Jolly will be for for the game anyway so Wood is likely to be in.

I am leaning towards the idea of playing Wood anyway if Jolly does get up purely because apart from "effort" Brown has done absolutely nothing for quite some time now. He looks a little spent to me.
yep agree, brown has been down all year and ever since he announced retirement hes had even less impact. if jolly is say 70% play wood first ruck and jolly take up the slack maybe letting him mostly go againt west. this could be woods chance to finally establish himself.
i also want to get goldsack in there somewhere just for flexibilty but have no idea who to leave out. beams form is good against cats, didak could be the x factor, just dont know.

O.k what I should have stated is he has a history of leaving stars out of finals.
Played Molloy when clearly unfit and it may have cost us a flag in 2002. He did drop Davis for the replay but frankly Davis was very lucky to play in the first GF. Had an ordinary year and poor finals form. Presti may well have been selected if he didn't rule himself out.

Like every other coach, if a quality player is 80% and able to play MM will play him. Question with Jolly is how far off 100% is he and can he move off a standing start properly. Ditto Reid.

leigh brown to run straight through ottens at the opening bounce and then run through West and repeat over and over again!

He neeeeeeds to throw his weight around - in a legal manner though. There's something that wouldn't sit right with me if he we to knock a player out with an elbow.

By all means though, lay as many of those bumps liek the ones on Lewis as you can Anvil

Brown hasn't done anything as a forward in a long time.

Last time Wood played there he actually looked really good in that role.

I'd risk Jolly and play Wood as back up.

If Jolly struggles we have cover and he can atleast be big body up forward on one leg.

Jolly out, Wood in. Simple as that, Jolly will get rings run around him if he plays injured. Brown to help out in the ruck when needed. If there is any player with an injury we don't know about, or if Reid doesn't come up then Fasolo should come in, or Goldsack, if it is Reid.
