Wood: Wood cost us Pick 14 in last years Draft from Brisbane.

Warnock: I reckon he would of Cost about the same. Maybe might of thrown in a Player

There Similar Players with Similar Experince and Similar Skill Set.

Are You happy with Wood or would Warnock been better?

I'm happy with Wood. You get plenty of peanuts (especially Carlton supporters) calling Wood a spud, but he is a kid with a good base and he will be a very handy player for our club when ready.

If we were so impressed with what we could've had with pick 14 we would've kept it.

Wood by far, purely because he has the same amount of ability as Warnock but he isn't an arrogant little prick who has tickets on himself like Warnock..

True and Plus some team will Over Pay for Him in the Salary Cap

Wood because we have him, bit pointless comparing who we would prefer as Wood was available last year and we needed a good YOUNG ruckman to develop at the club, Sorry Robbie the magpies train left the station long ago.

I think Wood has shown enough to suggest he'll have bright future in the black and white.

Shown glimpses of being a great tap ruckman, though needs to work on his play around the ground (And I can't think of a better mentor about that than Josh) and his engine.

Also...

Has a great set of hands and has shown if rested forward still remains a danger to the opposition and not a liability.

The facts are Cameron Wood was the best available young ruckman last year. Guy Richards got the arse so we needed a ruckman, and Wood fitted the bill.

DTM, are you asking whether we'd prefer to have taken Warnock last year if he was available?

I'm not entirely clear on what we're voting on.

Well Not Really it's Wood Last Trade Week vs Warnock Now but If you want to say something about last year Trade week where we were reported to have interest in Robbie then you can say something

Well, in that case I'd much prefer we stuck with Wood than went after Warnock now.

Mind you, had we passed up on one of Stanley or Cook in 2005, and taken Warnock instead while still picking up Anthony, we wouldn't have had to go after Wood last year. Then we could have used #14 on Callan Ward and I'd be ****ing stoked. :)

Wood is still doing ok. I would rather Collingwood keep him and further enhance him in the future. Warnock i don't think will be 'that' easy to get. Do Collingwood even want him on our list though and will he survive to play 15+ games in 2009?

Wood simply because we have him, If we had Warnock I'd be voting the other way. FWIW I last year was hoping we got Warnock with Wood a close second preference. Although this year Cam's overhead marking and tap work have impressed me. I think in terms of a skill base they are very similar and the better player will come down to development. I think Cam may end up a bit bigger muscle wise and that could help him a bit.

I agree with That Wood does seem to have more Muscle and Looks like he can put More on Too:thumbsu: but Warnock looks like a Stick and It's hard to tell how big if he gets bigger

Warnock has one important ingredient, particularly for a ruckman, that Wood lacks. Physical presence. It is one reason that Carlton are salivating over the prospect of recruiting him.

If Wood cannot develop this side of his game, we are looking at a Guy Richards Mark 11 with improved marking ability.

What Wood is about 11kg bigger then Robbie and Have you seen Robbie Run - I haven't

Wood is Already better then Stretch

Well Dave, Warnock has apparently dominated games in the WAFL as a very physical ruckmen. Wood is struggling at VFL level. Freemantle were desperate to keep Warnock. Brisbane were quite happy to release their 4th string ruckman in Wood last year. Warnock has not been in the system as long as Wood and struggled for a time to put weight on. It is only my opinion but I would not be surprised to see Warnock become a much better player than Wood.

The thing that really troubles me about Wood is that he has no physical presence. And I simply don't like ruckmen who lack physical presence. It's like recruiting a forward who can't kick. Hope to hell I am wrong, but the mountains of money at Visy park are well on their way to buying their next premeirship.

Perhaps one bonus for us is that it may take them out of the picture for Kerr(this year at least) so maybe we can tempt the eagles with our first round pick and Reid. Although my preference is to recruit young players through the draft and avoid these bidding wars.

I did read an article tonight which suggested that the Blues had gone cold on the idea of Kerr, now that they're chasing (and subsequently, it seems, have caught) Warnock.

Also worth noting, my 2008 prospectus has Warnock listed as 80kg. Has that changed throughout the year, as far as we know?

Is a bit early to call which is going to be better. I don't think there will be much between them in years to come. I think Wood will be better around the ground, more mobile & can take a grab. Warnock probably will be the better tap ruckman, big, physical contesting type.

It would have been very interesting who they would have picked had Warnock pulled the pin last year on the Dockers (very close to doing so apparently, but was talked around as the Dockers were destined for big things in 2008!).

All you'd get is Collingwood bashing though, you can never get a decent opinion on a Collingwood player unless they're one of the few who aren't totally hated, eg. Dane Swan or Marty Clarke.

You should see some of the threads on the drafts/trading board about Egan or R Shaw's trade value. People are lining up to napalm their houses rather than consider what they might be worth. Complete waste of time. Conversely, they'll happily overrate the fringe players of a club like Carlton who haven't played finals in the last... what, seven years?

Last year i had Warnock first choice, Wood second... although now im wrapped we got Wood, might be bias, lack of seeing Warnock play this year, or a bit of both, but when Wood fills out, he will dominate.

Great tap work, overhead marking, and second efforts... should only get better :D

I got a Feeling the Club had it the same way but When Freo told us to get Stuffed over Warnock we went to get Wood:thumbsu:
