He took the 2010 wooden spooners to consecutive top 5 finishes. That's after turning a barely top eight side(2002-2004) to a premiership contender. People say that Judd, Cox, Kerr and Cousins made that premiership a given, but even with those four and others doing their best, West Coast still didn't win a final until 2005.

All of that doesn't mean that he's the coach we need going forward, but give him the respect he deserves.

again im not discounting his successes. however our intention is to win a flag not to get into the finals and drop out. he has done well over time with some of his decisions but right now his cons outweigh his pros and he needs to go

I'm hoping that Mark 'Choco' Williams gets looked at as an option. Premiership coach at a small club like Port and he has done wonders with Richmond's midfield which had previously underperformed. Reputed to be great at player development which is why he was at GWS.

I cant recall the Eagles beating Choco's Port teams very often. Choco teams generally have a hallmark of being fiercely competitive.

So I take it you are happy with the fringe players and spuds that are on our list because you say "He doesn't HAVE to rebuild the list." I would have thought that your comment regarding the fringe players and spuds would invalidate your opinion that he doesn't have to re-build the list.

That's not what I was saying. It is filled with fringe players because of the injury toll.

It's sad when such a "powerhouse" team has with 60,000 members (questionable) only has 29,500 show up last night for the final game of the season, even during a significant farewell for 3 members.
Disgrace.
This current team doesn't deserve its fans, its unworthy of a decent following. The team, game plan and its skills are only worthy of a few cars lining up around the boundary line of gravelly edged, weedy and mud soaked centre square country league oval down Dumbleyung way. ( apologies to fans down there ).

Now lets watch Woosh lead us back to the top and pull another coach of the year award. For all the negative types on here, remember this......2010 last, 2011 4th and coach of the year.....how did he get voted coach of the yr (a second time hes won that acolade) if he cannot coach well???. Woosh is the right man for the job, and yes hes going to put the broom through the list and staff, and so he should. Roos has done nothing that Woosh hasnt done, so to all negative types get ya hands off it and be real. Do you actually believe he doesnt know what hes doing ....FFS!!!
And the doomsayers wonder why hes so successful.....lol

Your not coach of the year if you change all your assistants and then you succeed.

It's wrong to say this, but if he re-signs the excitement I had last off-season will not reappear. It is sad to look at Geelong, winning a flag in 2007 (1 year after us) and continuing to be an actual force 5 seasons after that. We went backwards straight after and have been mediocre most of the time since.

My girlfriend was at her first ever game last night and she turned to me in the second half and said, "Why do they keep going out so wide? Wouldn't it be faster if they just went through the middle?"

Not long afterwards the young girl sitting in front of us turned to her Dad and sobbed, "I wish we were a good team."

Both made my night, but pretty damning for Woosha and his 'game-plan'.
Have those two fans played in and coached in GFs??

Succesfull in 2006. 2005 we should have beaten Sydney comfortably. If we didn't have Judd and cousins I doubt he would have got us to a grand final at all. Both of those players were at the club when he got there, Judd recruited the same year he was appointed. He didn't build shit.

We had the midfield to win back to back flags. He won a premiership then the team went to the dogs from 2007-10. Finished 4th because of a great draw and was lucky with a few senior players playing well and we went ok last year without realistically threatening a premiership. We couldn't beat any top 4 team away.

I wouldn't call that successful. Geelong has been successful since 2007.

The team has clearly had enough of him as they are not listening to him on game day. The team is tired and stale and just basically shit.

Worsfold's time is up but unfortunately the board can only see "John Worsfold"

Would to God we had Brisbanes board who don't put up with mediocrity.

Compare lists.

At the game last night all the "regulars" did not show up. Me and Doughboy were the only 2 regulars within a few blocks. Sad really but understandable.

If he is coach next year I am not attending any Eagles games. One of the worst coaches in the league and has been his whole career. With a decent coach the Eagles would've won at least 2 or 3 flags during the mid 2000's.

What does telling Woosh to move on have to do with Brisbane? We've stood by him for 12 years now, surely that is longer than the average coaching tenure? Furthermore we stood by him during a wooden spoon year. Woosh has been great to the club, and the club has been great to Woosh. I'd like to see them part amicably now.

Johnny "Cash" Worsfold needs to take a pay cut to a retainer of about 100k. The rest of his payday should be all performanced based, which would include making finals, winning finals and a Premiership. If he won't do it for that then you have to ask if he is in it for the money or for the love of the club. I say reward a home win and an away win differently so he tries a bit harder, watching what little I did see last night he spent large amounts of time in the box not doing a fcuking thing.

Hell I could do that and we'd still lose, sit there indifferent, not picking up the phone and showing nothing. Its probably because deep down he's laughing his arse off at how much he's still getting paid without doing diddly squat on match day.

Yes.

Voss, despite one false dawn has overseen the rebuild of Brisbane. They have a tough, competitive midfield unit that plays with aggression.

Likewise, he was an inspirational on field leader and I have read positive things about him from Brisbane players discussing his ability to motivate and develop the young guys on the list. Plus he understands what a head coach wants of his senior assistants.
Well, Roos is probably unrealistic.

As for Voss, he was at Brisbane for five years and they made finals once. You want to sack Worsfold after missing the finals and replace him with a guy who missed the finals four times? How is that an improvement?

Voss might have been an "inspirational on field leader" but so was Worsfold and now you want him sacked.

In my view that 2005 loss was largely due to a decision by the coach and selection committee to replace a gaol kicking forward in Lynch with a ruckman at full forward in Gardiner. Given that Gardiner had just returned from a long term injury this was ridiculous and cost the team dearly. The coach must take responsibility for that.
