Woosha

Glad with the win but I don't think this win "saves" Worsfold.

We are a far better talent laden group than St Kilda. We should not have been in that position at all through the whole game.

Troubling times.

Whilst I somewhat agree with what you say, can you tell me who was out for the Eagles? ;)

You I agree in part but we are still a far better side even with those outs for us. We finished fifth last year with those outs didn't we.

Kennedy, Lecras, Embley, Nikoski. Waters and Kerr even missed a number of game IIRC.

No difference with today really.

I loved the set play in the dying minutes that Woosha has in the toolbag involving Hurn to kick to Nicnat for the mark or tap on and I don`t think it was a coincidence that emac ran maister the lenghth of the ground to be on the recieving end ..so well done woosha ..:thumbsu:

As I stated to someone else. We missed those same players (except Schofield who was dropped anyway a few weeks ago so not much of a loss) for most of last year and finished fifth.

In fact Blayne had a great debut.

Sorry if it was mentioned but I just flicked through the thread.

I heard a rumour from a reasonably unrealible source that Woosha is going through a reallllly messy divorce. The messy was emphasised a lot.

Anyone heard truth to that? Not that it matters much but could help explain his less than healthy looking appearance.

in whatever interview/presser it was I heard on ABC he said he McKenzie read the play himself coming off the bench

My old lady told me the same thing today...she had someone tell her the same thing who claims to know his wife. If true, you can understand why he doesn't want to sign on for another stint.

Valid points, so what's changed? Priddis, Embley, Selwood, Kerr a year slower, or something more?

They are a year older and a bit slower. A few of the new players like Darling have been worked out a bit.

S.Selwood is the only one making an improvement only his disposal lets him down a bit. The midfielders are struggling clearly.
It also doesn't help to have the side changing all the time so injuries have played a part.

Any side carries 1 or 2 people that are out of form for whatever reason and can cope with it but in our case it is across the board.
For this reason I think the problems at WCE go far beyond injuries as I have stated.

It comes back to morale and the coaching staff. Clearly there are lots of things going on in the background we may never know about.

Selwood shouldnt have played last year, Embley barely did but last year should have been his swan song had he not been injured, priddis' needs to lean forward into his kicks and stop turning them over and also learn to run backwards and kerr well you are lenient on an all time great at your club. I could also say Cox doesn't look like he put in a solid preseason.

It was mentioned by various commentators last season how well our older players were going. It could be a permanent situation.

And we have had our strengths analysed and a successful plan devised by opponents (tagging our better kickers & playing on at most opportunities). The latter takes away forwards chances to apply defensive tackles.

Can't like this post enough.

I don't see why we don't do that type of play once or twice per quarter. Even if we turn it over, the balls in the middle of the ground.

You make a good point swannies but as Worsfold has said many times that is no excuse. They are not and have not been playing with the same application and skill level that we expect for some time now.
We were extremely lucky to get the four points yesterday very lucky indeed and given what we face in the next several weeks we may possibly miss out on the eight. If that comes to be I have no doubt that we will have a new coach in 2014. Even if we just scrape in to the eight there will be pressure on Worsfold to keep his job.
All that aside, he has looked a tad gaunt for some time now and has certainly lost some weight but whether that has anything to do with how the team is going would only be speculation.

IMO, whether or not we make the eight will have nothing to do with who is our coach next season. The powers to be have said it is up to Woosha if he wants to sign another contract. The ball is in his court. I hope with my entire being that he stays on - I just cannot imagine another coach at the helm - but if Woosha decides it is the best thing for the club, then he will step aside.
Having said that, I dont know who the club should approach to coach us. Don't want Roos or Williams who are two of the names being thrown around. I also don't think we should go for an assistant.

you cant imagine another coach at the helm? what hes gonna be here for another 100 years? :p

the reality is there is a lot more things to life than football. worsfold knows this. and to be honest i think he feels its time for him to have a change. in being in the same industry for the majority of his adult life would have an affect on you eventually

and i have faith in the club in getting a proper coach. yes theyve ****ed up in drafting some players over the years but coaching is an entirely different ball game.

Any suggestions for a replacement?

Perhaps Teague? Had a good run in the VFL and has seemingly done well for our defense this year (hard to suggest Burns considering how the midfield's going)

Would Bomber Thompson coach again?!

I was out of the country for a large period of 2010 when the whole saga went down, so I'm not to educated in how & why it happened.

Extremely doubtful, probably quite happy at Essendon, but just a thought. :)

two AA defenders plus Scofield out. That 3 of 6 defenders.
Ex AA forward and our most important forward out. Thats 2 of 5 forwards without considering nocoski.

we won

Bigger picture, we are not working hard enough and have no transition. It appears like we are modifying the forward press and we are killed on the rebound, but we don't have the work ethic to implement the alternative.

I suspect not having a dedicated reserves, like the swans do, hurts us as players are not drilled before getting a game.

Yes h
My old lady told me the same thing today...she had someone tell her the same thing who claims to know his wife. If true, you can understand why he doesn't want to sign on for another stint.

Heard from very close source that he's split from his wife and is going through some emotional issues over custody of kids, could explain why his mind is not on the job.
Also explains why he has no answers in presser , he maybe daydreaming, thinking of better days, like we all do , when life throws us a curve ball. News also about Peter Matera been single and carrying on around town and been seen with Woosha, they may be rekindling thier youth again, may explain Woosha taking up playing music!

Any suggestions for a replacement?

Throw money at Paul Roos and get him if we need a replacement, might as well go for the biggest fish in the pond.
