Thought this was interesting. I know we have done this to an extent, but this strategy is without doubt linked to their success, and something we should be following.

The dominant teams of recent years have been the Hawks, the Swans, the Cats, the Eagles and the Pies.
When he was at St Kilda, Ross appointed a highly regarded assistant coach, Leigh Tudor from Geelong, to join him on the coaching panel.
The Cats had enjoyed wild success and naturally Tudor carried with him some valuable intellectual property.
The coaching team at Fremantle is, among others, Brett Kirk (Sydney), Simon Lloyd (Collingwood) and Peter Sumich (West Coast).
Lyon has experience and representation from all five of those successful organisations. Their qualities provide for a very formidable coaching team.

Fremantle will be towards the top of the table for the next few years. Whether or not they win one or more premierships will depend upon Pavlich's form this year, and in the future, their ability to find suitable key position players to replace McPharlin and Pavlich.

Yes h

Heard from very close source that he's split from his wife and is going through some emotional issues over custody of kids, could explain why his mind is not on the job.

This is true, and he has told the board he will not be seeking a contract renewal.

He is looking for a pharmacy to buy so he can spend more time with his kids.

If we get Roos next year I am going to run down the street naked in celebration :p

awesome. so not only do I have to sit through him mumbling unfinished sentences during On The Couch, now i have to listen to all that during press conferences.

at least he will stop talking about swans.

but honestly, the way he has been talking at least On The Couch, i dont think he really wants to coach. he did say that he has moved on from coaching. i know i know but he did say it.

i know will say he hasnt definately ruled out, but why would you? we have all thought never ever with things in our lives only for things to happen.

Id through the kitchen sing at Hird....nah just playing...

alot of talk about Black in papers and even from nisbett. i thought that was a little bit odd....are they testing the public to gage whether we would be receptive? i for one am not. his hissy fits at people for even suggesting he is getting past it at Brisbane over last 2 years doesnt sit nicely with me. mind you, woosha had a hissy aswell at end of his career...

really sad if whole family issues are true.

Someone certainly works on stoppages, regardless of what his title is. Even though it's far from a strong point, sometimes things come off so often that they must be from design.

Think about Naitanui tapping it forward to a running Shuey/Selwood. It's a set play, some genius thought it up or stole it.

Sorry if it was mentioned but I just flicked through the thread.

I heard a rumour from a reasonably unrealible source that Woosha is going through a reallllly messy divorce. The messy was emphasised a lot.

Anyone heard truth to that? Not that it matters much but could help explain his less than healthy looking appearance.

A mate of mine at the footy mentioned that one to me, shouldn't really be impacting our on-field performance though would increase his stress levels. You can certainly see how this would impact his contract negotiations though.

Throw money at Paul Roos and get him if we need a replacement, might as well go for the biggest fish in the pond.

We should be throwing everything we have got at him or someone of similar tactical nous.

We have a good list, a list touted by most experts to win a flag but we need coaches that can make it happen.

Just on Paul Roos being regarded as a tactical genius - it's always hard to tell as an outsider but given the sucess of both John Longmire and Ross Lyon who were assistants to Roos at Sydney it's probably fair to say a good deal of Sydney's success in 2005 and 2006 where attributable to them.

Roos certainly seems a very good people manager and helped instill a great culture and work ethic at the Swans but maybe, just maybe, without his lieutenants it might not be quite as good as he was at the Swans.

Have often pondered this. I think the legend has somewhat outgrown the man.
