I think if we are going to chose an experienced coach it would have to be Roo's if not Eade because if we go with a young coach he might not get the best out of the the team that can still threaten for a flag in the next year or 2.

I hear Nic Nat is out.......sorry wrong rumour page But as has been asked before, is Roos that good?? We have seen his under study's go on to be very successful, Longmire, Lyon, does that mean he was a great teacher and leader or he had very good people around him to make him look better? I'm just not sure he will be the quick fix that everyone thinks he will be.

I have no source and no clue about who will coach us. Woosha has outside pressures that must be taken into account. The CEO will be informed and regardless must ensure stability - well done I say.

Roos ha sa good football mind and communicates well. he can coach.
No appointment would or should be bandied about in public as all parties have current positions to respect.

Yes, That team wasn't an amazing team on paper so to even make a GF with that team is a mark of a good coach IMO. That he won one with them says even more.

Exactly and that's why it excites me to see what he can with our team which i think has more talent than what they did back then.

See what he could come up with for players like Shep, Newman, Wilson, Smith, Brennan, Bennell..ect

I could see Burns staying on too and if Roo's only wants to coach for 3-4 years at the most then Burns should have enough experience from 2 great coaches to become a senior coach.

I like Burns and the players seem to look up to him but i just can not see him being ready to take the reigns over.

Sumich is another possibility as he was responsible for our midfield back in our hay day and was then made the forward line coach where he helped get the forward press cranking. Now having coached under Lyon for 2 years should be some real good experience to step up as senior coach.

Great point. Most definitely had amazing cattle, but to what degree did Suma influence them.. hard to know for sure.

I would love to have Burns and Walsh stay on, but not certain Burns is ready just yet for the senior coaching position....

Another legend (or furphy) that seems to grow is that the cattle in the Swans teams in 2005 and 2006 wasn't all that great. It wasn't a great side, but they were a heck of a lot more talented than people seem to think.

This is the 2005 Swans Premiership team. How anyone can say that it wasn't a talented side is beyond me.

It wasn't a great side, but they were a heck of a lot more talented than people seem to think.

Yeh thats right, looking back at it now it looks like a good side because we know what they acheived and the players some of those guys developed into to, at the time there were a fair few "no names" compared to our squad at the same time.

Coaching wouldn't matter too much with these three rotating through the guts, and all of them were in their prime virtually at the same time, and prime for prime (by that i mean peak for peak) you couldn't seperate who was the better player. Throw in a running machine like Braun, big body of Stenglein and you don't need to coach much, other than a few set plays and making sure the lesser players set blocks and tag out the opposition gun mid.

Still like the idea of Suma coaching us though.

True, but the point was they all did the team things for each other when each of them was a superstar in thier own right, which is something our current mids dont do and none of them can lay claim to even half the cred that the above three were known for. So my question is, who got them to do all that great blocking, tagging etc and work together so well and why cant the current guys we have do the same? Is it a lack of ability in the players or the coaching? Its a question that needs answering for us to improve because the midfield is where we lack imo.

In general, that article is BS. How often does a club hire a coach that is well known to the average bigfooty poster?

Who knew about Brendan McCartney, Brenton Sanderson, Ken Hinkley, John Longmire and Mark Neeld before they were hired, or close to it?

I think those articles are written to suck in fans a bit. We all know who Mark Harvey is, so we get into reading about him as an option but he's probably not. Same goes for Eade, Daniher, Roos and Williams.

I hate this argument. "Player X,Y,Z were guns so they don't need a coach.

We had one of the most dysfunctional forward lines of any premiership team of the last 30 years. Our back line, while solid, wasn't filled with superstars. Yes we had 3 gun mid's with a good supporting cast but it takes more than individuals to win a premiership.

Claiming that our 06 team could have coached itself is down right disrespectful to Woosh and Co. who built that team from the ground up and devised a game plan best suited to the players.
