found this on wikipedia. what game did this take place?

"In his playing days, he was often cheered by supporters with a distinctive, deep rolling roar of "ROOOOOOS!". However this tradition was halted after an incident involving West Coast Eagles captain John Worsfold, in which Worsfold bumped Roos off the ball before yelling "ROOOOOS!" to the Sydney cheersquad"

That is one of the funniest things I've ever read.

Oloughlin yes...Jolly no as he was playing pretty average football and okeefe only started playing well in the last 4 or so years.

I call bullshit again.
06 was Jolly's breakout season and is what really set him up as a great tap ruckman as well as someone who could get the ball around the ground. As for Ryan O'keefe...

In 2006, he made All-Australian selection,[3] and was once again selected to represent Australia in the International Rules series. He had a highly successful series, scoring more points than any other player. He was awarded the Jim Stynes medal for the best Australian player in the series.[4]
O'Keefe played his 100th AFL game in Round 7 against Richmond. In what was also Paul Williams' 300th game, Sydney defeated Richmond by 118 points.
He came equal second in the running for the Bob Skilton Medal, which is annually awarded to the Best and Fairest player at the Sydney Swans, to one of the three Co-Captains, Brett Kirk.

Yup, real average.

O'keefe was one of the swans star players in 05/06 across half forward

eags put a tag on him in both GF's, definitely in the 05 one because i remember kasey green got picked to play on him

If Woosha is stepping aside and we are looking for a replacement i don't see how we could do better than Paul Roo's.

Regardless of how you look at it he has

Won a premiership

Made two grand finals

Developed two incredibly talented coaches (Ross Lyon & John Longmire)

Shown he is a good game day coach

& most importantly, he has shown how to get the most out of a list and knows how to build a list.

Let's not forget that Kennedy, Shaw, Richards, McGlynn, Mumford, Jetta, Jack, Hanneberry and countless others were all brought in before he handed the reigns over to Longmire.

He practically built the list back up for another premiership.

I doubt we could get him... BUT if it is true and the great man Woosha is stepping aside, then this would be a masterstroke.

My sources told me we are going to make top 4 .. They're realible i swear

Paul Roo's would be a great coach, hopefully he could get the most out off our midfield.

Well he wouldn't play favourites, that's for sure.

Roo's only believes in one thing. A no dickhead policy.

Just ask Nick Davis & Barry Hall.

It would be interesting to see the approach he would take to our midfield woes though.

I suspect we would be active come trade week. Roo's was never afraid to go fishing.

The Sydney recruiters and draft selectors should be credited with choosing those players more so than Roos, and their further development was not just Roos but more so Longmire when he became coach and the other assistant coaches

Roos to coach the eagles next year
his son has enrolled at Hale
Apparently has brought a house in Perth.. I don't know how true this is or any of this is
has been spotted with Trevor Nisbett
Woosha to move to Melbourne (not to coach) at the end of the year

sounds like the rumour is growing legs, just have to wait and see how it unfolds I guess.

I did hear the house part from someone, but geez, it's funny these rumors pop up just when a coach is under pressure. Would welcome the news though!

Let's reverse engineer this scenario;

Paul Roos has bought a house
Paul Roos has accepted the job of senior coach at WCE
Paul Roos has been offered the role
WCE and Worsfold have not told the players or public
John Worsfold has resigned or been fired

If Roos has bought a house here, it is a stretch to link him to the top job.

Lyon was an assistant at Carlton at the same time as Woosha. Also, I'm unsure if you can claim Longmire is an "incredibly talented" coach, at the same time as crediting the all the Swans good players to Roos.

Yes i have my eggs in multiple baskets. Yet they are all true.........from a certain perspective.:p

I may have forgotten to mention that Lyon did study under Parkin & Pagan....but he was still the midfield coach under Roos for two grand finals.

Clearly that is where he excelled, and where he caught St Kilda's eye.

Longmire is a good coach, how many people expected the Swans to win at the beginning of the year?

Practically nobody.

Yes there are a lot of variables to winning the big one. Form, injuries, opposition, weather...etc

But the coach is the general and he helps pick the team week in, week out, instruct the players, draws up the game plan, makes the game day decisions.

Roos helped construct the list that Longmire took over in 2011, that does not discount the work that Longmire has put into them over the last 2 years, nor does it diminish the importance of Longmire being left a good list to work with.

You don't believe the coach has any say in the players he wants or the types he needs?

I don't claim it was purely the magical Paul Roos making all the decisions but he was certainly part of the process.

Therefore some of the credit must also be attributed to him.

Besides, i doubt it really matters. I highly doubt that Paul Roos will be coaching us next year. I don't see him leaving his cushy couch gig and moving his family over to Perth.

Can Confirm Woosha is going though a divorce a errrm Associate of mine met JK, Gaffy and a couple other players in a Melbourne café on the weekend of the STK game. JK said so him self and I have absolutely no reason to doubt them because they are the last people to bs about stuff like this

If true that is very poor form from JK to be spreading that information.

Yeah I agree. To be honest I can't see any of the players telling some random bloke about the personal life of their coach, if they themselves knew anything, which I also doubt. I'm sure there are rumours flying around the club but the players may not know the whole story either, do you think woosh sits them all down and spills his guts about his marriage and home life, I don't.

Is your associate mates with JK or did he just randomly bump into a group of west coast players?
