I think you are underrating the Hawks. They are a better team than us, with better players. What did you expect to happen in that game?

As for Freo, coin toss game that we came out with the loss. We did alright other than the 3rd.

I think you want heads to roll just for the sake of it.

I want guys like LeCras, Kennedy, Hurn, Rosa, to taste premiership success.

These injuries prove that we don't have the depth to challenge a side like the Hawks.

Probably should have phrased that differently, of the two teams that took the field in round 2 the Hawks were clearly the better side.

I think we all want those players listed to be successful though.

You think we are better than the Hawks?

I think you are glossing over the problems at the Eagles.
And I think we SHOULD have beaten the Hawks at home but because of our problems and issues we are not performing. It's time supporters and others stopped making excuses for our losses.

Based on last year and the year before we SHOULD be undefeated right now. Simple.

but if the midfield is doing well it's about how brilliant shuey and selwood and naitanui are, right? if they're crap it's about the coach.

Let's face it. It is ALWAYS about the coach. Win or lose the coach takes responsibility. Woosha takes huge credit for 2006 and rightfully so except he was GIFTED with the best midfield combo for 20 years. And by gifted I mean they (Judd, Cousins, Cox, Kerr, Flethcher, Braun) were all there when he got there.

It wasn't his doing.
So if the Eagles crash and burn this year...he will cop the blame and rightfully so.

Teams that win flags have great players...Best mid in 20 years, Brisbane early '00's say hi! Did Leigh Matthews deserve credit for that? Lappin Voss Aker were all there before he arrived?

What about when he was laughed at when he backed in this playing group and his game style to go from last to top four in 2011? Does he deserve credit for that?

Do you really believe that?

I don't want this to happen but there is a possibility Woosha might hang up his board of magnets at the end of the year.

Other than Burns, who would be the main contenders?

David Teague should be our next coach. Seriously. Already proven at VFL level with an ordinary Bullants side. Just needs a little bit more time so he's older than the players.

While Burns coaches the mids who seem to be the cause of most frustration here.

The Eagles midfield consistently beat Brisbane's in the early 2000's after the arrival of Judd and Cox with Kerr and Cousins. Even in Brisbane.

In fact between 2002 and 2004 we defeated Brisbane 4 times to 1. So a better midfield to theirs yeah.

Woosha deserves credit of course I said that in my post. But he also deserves blame when they lose. Read my post.

That's interesting... Never really thought of Teague. There is definitely a tendency to go for out and out champion players which is flawed imo. Sumich was pretty close to getting a senior role there at one stage. Think he could be in the mix as well. Currently working with Lyon would serve him well after being with WC for so long.

God NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Whilst he isn't a great media communicator and I am not advocating for him to be our next head coach, you cannot deny that he clearly is a decent coach.

Helped institute or very effective forward press in 2011, at the time Kennedy and LeCras also were the two most accurate set shots in the league.

Since going to Fremantle, their setups from opposition kick ins and ability to apply forward pressure to the opposition is a feature. Their goal kicking also improved last year, with players like Mayne working on their set shot routine for fantastic results.

From all reports Lyon rates him very highly.

Sometimes I think perception=/=the reality.

Fair enough about the mids. I just think its silly when you say all the players were already there so it wasn't his doing. You will find that most match winners in Premiership sides were not recruited by the Premiership coach. They inherited them and built a team around those players to win a flag and that's what Woosha did.

I also understand that you said he deserved credit however it was with a big 'but' and then you went on to say 'it wasn't his doing'

Look, everything I've heard about him is he has an exceptional football brain and is a very good coach and very unlucky not to have got either the Saints or Bulldogs jobs, I just don't fancy him, it's a personal thing, because he upset my Notte. ;)

I guess what I mean by it not being his doing is that he didn't put the mids together. They were there when he got there. Don't get me wrong he deserves massive credit for winning in 2006.
There are also a lot of people who say he deserves the blame for bad coaching in 2005 when we lost. Hall helped lol. But history shows he is a very one dimensional coach. His B plan was always Hunter forward. Hunter has gone and I haven't seen a B plan since?? Anyone else ?

Hahahahaha this guy...

As for Worsfold, he is an excellent coach. Not only is he experienced, but also level headed and prudent. Does his perceived stubbornness or inflexibility sometimes frustrate fans (rightly or wrongly), yes.

However I suggest his style of coaching, focusing on player development and empowerment, plus his confidence in both the playing group and gameplan account for more wins than losses.

Do I think the backline needs tweaking, definitely. Do I think we have some issues with our stoppage work, yes.

Do I think certain senior players enjoy favouratism, possibly to the detriment of the side, yes (from the outside looking in).

But I would much rather Worsfold, than shopping for a new coach. We also might be confusing the coaching choices of Woosha, with those of his assistants. There could also be other explanations, such as overestimating the strength of the list/certain players, or confusing confidence and lack of proper execution, with a flawed gameplan.

Yeah he did love Hunter Fwd... Hall should've been rubbed out for belting Maguire.

I think it makes sense to extend his contract only if the side improves. It has improved since 2010, but his game plan is becoming outdated and counter-able. Teams have worked out to congest the midfield and get quick forwards to counter our weak small defence, and our land of the giants movement out of defence is predictable and no longer working without NN and Lynch.

Does he have time to develop a new plan? What do we consider to be Par for him this year? Top 4? Top 8?
