smith, butler, dalzeill are not up to AFL standard. What i have seen of the WAFL we don't have fit replacements.
Not sure about Shep, Gaff, Hill and a few others no aggression or gym membership by the look of it.

As a team we have no instinctive run - I suspect this is in the head but we have drafted weak, slow midfielders for years . Tan Woodhouse's hide.

a good nights sleep perhaps

Ya, I have always been a staunch supporter of Woosha, but after that performance (the worst of any WCE side at Subi) he has to go. Do not want! Let's have a fresh beginning and cut the chaff.

No listen Woosh will stay and here is why...

MONEY!!!!! its the only reason he is still bothering to turn up. If I dished up that shit at work week in and out I would be looking for a new job but not Worstfold he turns up to collect the moolah week in and out without so much as a hint of taking the blame.

Expect the expected

"Why do you think you lost tonight, John?"
"Umm....don't know."

"Do you think it is an issue of leg speed?"
"Umm... no, don't think so."

"Are you going to be targeting midfielders this draft to help improve what you have?"
"Umm... no, we are pretty happy with our midfield right now."

I am a relatively new poster to these boards, sadly it has taken this for me to post, I need to vent :(

A simply awful performance. I am most disturbed however by the interview Woosha gave on ABC earlier this morning, I believe it has been referred to by a previous poster.

He acknowledges and accepts that the midfield is the main priority, however from what he said, he believes that our current midfield (with everyone fit and in form) can challenge any other team in the competition... It seems that the thinking is we need pace (which is an obvious one) however when the question came up with regards to the need for "size, bigger bodies", Woosha does not believe that is necessary, he in fact referred to how well our midfield went last week against Hocking and Watson... I am praying that there a other people involved in our football staff who have a different view...

I have a enormous amount of respect for Woosha, but it's time now, a fresh approach has to happen.

Oh and for some comedy gold, provided by Dalziell in an after match interview on the ABC, We brought "our game" (apparently...) in the second half, our tackling was good and we only lost the half by 6 or so points.. Oh and next week is a danger game for Collingwood, we believe if we bring "our game" we can match any team!

So depressed at the moment :(

Coach killer that one. Genuinely will be surprised if he survives that. Looks like he has lost the players finals were a dim prospect before the game but that was a shocking performance.

Agree it was a shocking performance but that B-team woosha fielded tonight just had a bad game against a near full strength Geelong team gunning for 2nd place on the ladder.
Woosha will survive because the club knows who`s out of their best team and understands that the team are playing fringe players with limited experience..

Just on the topic of some of our mids being a bit too skinny. Was evident again vs a top class midfield that we get pushed off the ball too easily. (Obviously more players with the pace and class of Wellingham would help so the opposition can't actually catch us).

Earlier in the year there was a video on the WCE website with some of the players in the gym. Now Brad Sheppard was doing an incline bench press on a smith machine FFS. That is just pretend weight training.

Maybe Anthony Jones or whoever is in charge down there actually knows what they are doing, but I would have thought guys like Sheppard, Gaff etc should being doing proper compound lifts like deadlifts?

Get them really strong through the hips and core. To me, midfields like Geelong, Sydney, Hawthorn & Freo look physically strong like that. Don't get knocked over, stand up in tackles etc.

Has our club become insular?

I don't totally disagree with him on that - we've really never had a full midfield going this year and if we had it at full strength it probably would be pretty handy.

NN, Shuey Selwood
Wellingham Masten Gaff

Rosa has had a nothing year but healthy he is also a handy player as a second tier mid.

The problem is after that it drops off really quickly (This is where the Swift, Stevens, Sheppard, Ebert, Weedon picked have stuffed us because that should be the secondary midfield). Even in a relatively lucky year we will inevitably have some injuries and we quickly need to develop the depth to cover it.

Re: bigger bodies - I don't think that's the main problem (though I did notice that Priddis for instance was able to take the contact a dish the ball off better than a few others who were getting dispossessed easily).

The main problem is we need some mids who can actually PICK UP THE DAMN BALL and not fumble it 20 times and then actually be able to hit a target by foot or spread properly.

AND

We need some half back flankers who can do something other than STAND AND STARE CLUELESS AT THE WING I MEAN FFS TRY RUNNING FORWARD AND ACTUALLY CREATING SOMETHING!

Anyway as terrible as that was we were missing:

Hurn, Waters, NN, Shuey (at least a fit Shuey that can play properly), LeCras, Masten.

Not THAT many but all in our best 10.
