We need a new match day coaching staff, its been our biggest weakness forever now. Even during the Cousins/Judd era, we were regarded as the comeback kings forever letting other teams run away early on. Always struggled to get our match ups right and it was painful to see it happen again on the weekend. Whether that's ultimately Woosha's fault or his staff around him, something really needs to change. We need smarter people in the box come game day /rant

Assistant coaches put in place what Woosha wants put in place. Woosha sets the game plan. He is the senior coach. It is the assistants job to implement Wooshas game plan within their area's.
Maybe they are failing at that? Maybe Wooshas game plan is not very good? Maybe the players are not very good?
There is a lot for the club to look at and go through.

He didn't mention delistings in the post match presser, to which my original post was referring, but he did allude to the possibility in an interview last week. But that doesn't mean there will be, he just said there may be.

May be delistings but also may be trades with players we thought would never be traded or moved on.

Heard he's signed another contract...not sure how after this seasons efforts (or lack of it at times), and before people start bringing out injuries and "we havent had our best team on the park" excuses for this season, just look at Freo. They've had as many if not more injuries this year and still won games because the players that come in are drilled to know what they are doing, and the coach can make changes to adjust when the initial game plan is not working. We've also had pretty much close to our best side onfield at times and still looked bad iirc.
Its not being a bad supporter to question the club when success is not being delivered, its about wanting the best for the club as a whole, not for just one individual inside the club. That doesnt mean you treat individuals badly within the organization, it just means that sometimes hard calls have to be made in the best interests of the club. We have badly underperformed this year and havent looked good enough to be a real premiership threat last year when up against the very top sides. If the ultimate goal of the club is to win a Premiership (as it should be), then it would be negligent of the people in charge of the club to keep turning a blind eye to whats going on. Unfortunately it appears that nothing will change in the short term.
We need top line midfielders, more flexible game plans and good lock down defenders to move forward at this stage. We also need to find out why we seem to have more injuries than most clubs (eg are we put on fitness programs that reduce the muscle on our players til they are too slight and get injured more easily?). Playing players in form rather than on reputation would also be good.
Hopefully that changes over the off season because if it doesnt, we may end up further behind next season. Unfortunately, our current coach seems to be blinded to these realities, and that is why people are saying as much as he has been and will always be a legend of the club, it might be time for a fresh injection of ideas.

Based on what we have been told it seems that John makes the decision, the club has handed over these big decisions to John.
So we have Woosha for 2 more years. Oh well!!

That is what it seems like, what Woosha says is gospel.

By the way, I understand Peter Worsfold is still an assistant ?. If so, big query on his CV for the job.

Seriously a big shake up is required, both on field and off field. Some people at the Eagles are living in a "comfort zone".

The Eagles were leaders in alot of areas, but I think a number of clubs have now zoomed past due to innovation and forward planning.

I know Injuries can't be blamed for effort and performance of the guys actually playing, but I reckon if we had NicNat, Wellingtramp, Scooter, Shuey, Kerr and Masten playing all year things may be a little different. Fair enough a few of those guys listed have played most of the year But we have all seen over the last few weeks how good Wellingham can be (think he had 30 touches & 10 Clearances on the weekend) Having a settled midfield would surley have helped a little.

Just heard Woosha on 6PR 5 minutes ago and he was asked by Hardie when the Eagles would be back on top for a premiership and he replied "2-3 years"

Funny thing I remember that being said somewhere before but I can't remember where?? 2010 ring any bells?

We really have become Fremantle. Always 2-3 years away FFS I hate it. Hate it in Fremantle and now Woosha is spewing the same shit.

We would have made finals but I don't think we would have finished higher than 6th on form. We have played some really average football this year. The injuries have killed us but there only a part of it. The injuries have highlighted how important Hurn and Natanui are to us and how our midfield is middle tier in the comp atm.

Pretty funny he said that, things are getting into motion for next year obviously. I remember him saying a 3 year plan in 2010 so if not this year should be next year! ...............now 2016?

christ, funniest thing is that he said at the start of the year that we were in premiership mode for the next few years.

Did he really say that? Seems unlike Woosh to give a straight answer.

I think it's actually a refreshing change to be honest about our need for an injection of talent/pumping games into our depth. As opposed to trotting out the line that we'll be in and amongst it next year.

To be fair there was a view after 2011 that we might suffer a second dip as our veterans form fell away or they retired which has been evident his year. Aside from glass none of veterans has made a meaningful contribution this year - cox has battled on but his impact has been reduced significantly from prior seasons

That said the current group hasn't exactly given confidence that a return to the top is just around the corner and even at full strength our midfield is below par. Coupled with an outdated/ ineffective game plan we have struggled and worsfold has to wear the blame for that so a change needs to be made - if not the coach then the support staff. Arguably both

I can't believe Woosha poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague upon our houses!

He also said no need to trade aggressively or cut to many guys as current list is good enough

Yes that is what he said correct I forgot about that.

He said that all players will be reaching peak performance by the time they are 25-29 as Cox did.

Mentioned these players as the nucleus:
Hurn, NN, Shuey, Wellers, Darling, Gaff, Brown, Mackenzie and Lecras and Kennedy.

And that he may not be around for it. Was only wanting to coach for another 2 years apparantly.
His words not mine.
