Not that I've ever worked at a footy club but I wouldn't think these types of rigid KPIs would be all that useful. The board should make it's decision based on Woosha's pitch for the future and how he explains the reasons for failure this season + talking to players and other stakeholders around the club.

and how to teach our midfielders to kick to a lead.
and how to get our players speed back
and how to get them lifting
and how to teach clean hands

That post by me was a bit over the top looking back at it. I was very emotional post game. I do however believe that the time is right to move on. If they decide against that, there better be some serious recruiting in the coaching, recruiting and fitness departments. I will stand behind the decision made by the club and back whoever takes charge. However change is needed.

I'm sure the club will be doing an intensive review of the season and will make changes. However, personally, I don't think Woosha will go and I hope I'm right.

Everyone, if you can't name a specific player to take Morton's place on the list, don't call for his delisting.

I'm not sure if you're pulling a Dargie or not..

If you are in fact making a funny then :thumbsu:

Would WOosha be safe if they decided to chop the mid and skillz coaches? Seems to me they have a lot more to answer too than Johnny.

Having said that I would be happy for Woosh to stand aside, who for? I do not know.

One would like to think that they know how to do all those things, they are after all full time professional footballers. The question is why aren't they doing all those things? Maybe it's because the game plan and the Worsfold message is stale and they are no longer playing with the necessary passion that's required to win, there were certainly examples of that last night and over the last several weeks.
It is glaringly obvious that the whole football department needs an injection of new personnel with new ideas and enthusiasm and that includes the Coach.

They don't have a skills coach...

Dean Kemp was the skills coach but what he wanted the players to do clashed with - and hence was hindered by - the skills and conditioning coaches, so he walked.

So Dargie, are you suggesting that there is no one out there capable of coaching better then Woosha?
You know about two years ago there were many Freo fans who thought Mark Harvey was the right man for the job.
His track record was pretty good and were doing ok.
Then he was brutally axed and again the Freo faithful were blind sided when Lyon was appointed the new coach.
Despite the fact that Harvey was doing "OK" he would have never been able to have taken us to where we are now.
To suggest that "the better the devil we know" attitude is the best approach is ludicrous.
I strongly doubt Woosha despite his past track record can take the coasters to another premiership.
I'm pretty sure with a proper screening process a more suitable candidate can be found to replace Him.
To be asking for names is not a job for you or any other supporters really but the WCE board instead.

It is time for Woosha to step aside. Events in his personal life combined with the way we have performed this year suggests it is the right time to make some changes.

I've always been a big Worsfold supporter, but his goose is cooked and it's time to move on!
Time for someone new to step up. I think the opportunity to coach such a powerful club would attract a large number of applicants, there would be many assistant coaches around the country looking to take the next step, and probably a couple of former coaches who might be interested too.
May the best applicant get the job.

Darg's argument is so strange, and really is a false dichotomy. It's perfectly reasonable and valid to hold the position that Woosha is not the man for the job, whilst also believing the people in best position to know available candidates and their specific attributes would (should) be our football department. I mean, for goodness sake, if there is no other assistant or seconds coach in the entire country that has the proper experience and shows traits Woosha lacks, well then AFL footy is doomed for the next 20 years. But who these specific people are and what attributes certain up-and-coming coaches have probably isn't going to be known by us, but rather, people who actually work in the industry. That doesn't mean we can't evaluate a coach we DO know well, which is Woosha, and what we do know is that our team has made 2 finals in 6 years (and we were never a genuine chance in either of those years), our youth have failed to develop, our game plan is horrible, our player selection leaves plenty to be desired, we've blown draft picks, we have no plan B on game day and we are far too conservative when it comes to taking risks. There has to be accountability for that. It's not just Worsfold that needs to go, it's a bunch of 'em.

It was not a certainty before the last two weeks considering how the team went this year. I can understand why they would go around with him again but after the lat two games you would of chopped a 2 year contract in half...

Put some pressure on him and the rest of the group and leave it at 1 year IMO

The last 2 weeks has been the players letting everyone know what they think of the prospect of Woosha staying on as coach.

The difference here is that Freo already had Lyon ready to go when they sacked Harvey. Perhaps what Dargie may be trying to avoid would be the current Brisbane Lions situation.

Like I said @Kaboodler those are just KPIs I threw up, they may be something different but there must be measurables they compare. There has to be, otherwise you can't make a clear, just decision.

The current Lions situation is that the Board decided Voss shouldn't stay on ...

Which up until a couple of months ago was the view of roughly 95% of the football world...

The other stuff is speculation which has arisen primarily because they handled Voss' exit poorly.

We need to move on from Woosh. The reality is that every coach of a Top 8 side bar Lyon is coaching their first team. Which is to say all of them were unknown quantities as senior coaches before they took over their current club. As was Lyon at St Kilda.

I'm sure similar quality candidates are out there now.

Woosh needs to move on. Arguing about who replaces him is what happens after we make the right decision regarding his future.

dargs' autism makes any flexibility around thought processes quite hard for him. his approach is generally to turn any opposing point of views into a game of semantics rather than a conversation about football.

Exactly right, one decision, is Worsfold our option to coach next year, must be made before we can progress to who is out there? If he is, the rest of the argument is moot. If he's not, we need to find out who's out there.
