Seriously, what the f**k is transparency with the supporters needed for anyway?

I couldn't give a crap about what the club tells me. I know they know this isn't acceptable, and I know they're gonna do their best to rectify it. If something isn't being done properly, it'll be rectified in due course.

Just because I'm a member of the club doesn't mean I get a say in how it runs. It means I get to go to the games and enjoy myself. I'm not a stake holder and I'm certainly not a quality football person, so my opinion means jack****.

I'd love the club to come out and tell the truth regarding injuries, but that's not going to get us playing any better is it?

EDIT: Don't interpret this as a message of support for/against Worsfold; merely saying talk of transparency in regards to the club's media policy is laughable.

An alternative opinion - supporters and other footy clubs notice, and it may affect them in perhaps less than tangible ways.

Many supporters feel like they're more valued when there is some dialogue between them and the club via the media. Valued supporters tend to be more passionate and display more loyalty through the tough times.

Stonewalling the media by failing to provide even a few legitimate insights into the deficiency of the team is frustrating and fans who feel the effects of this will be less likely to turn up on a wet afternoon (I'm not even a member, so I'm not saying I wouldn't turn up on the basis of this, just making a point). This damages the brand of the West Coast Eagles, albeit in a relatively minor way compared to what we've been through in the past. But still, it's far more pleasing to listen to Ross Lyon speak about the Dockers, even early last year when they were playing crap. He never threw players under the bus, merely grouped several by position or another criterion in order to convey a relevant point about the team's performances or direction with regard to gameplan and so forth.

I listen to other coaches during pressers or FOX Footy program interviews etc. and I just get bothered by how Woosha never gives anything away. I know it's just his MO and that he stood by this young midfield through the hard times so clearly he doesn't want to portray any in a negative light, but ignoring what we can all see is annoying and I just think it'd help if he put the acid on at times. Perhaps something like: "Adam Selwood wasn't impacting enough contests so we decided to sub him off" (like Ross Lyon admitted with regard to Suban after they played Hawthorn...I think). And if that's throwing him under the bus, perhaps we should focus on how Suban has responded since that day.

Woosha looks meek and beaten at the moment, I feel sorry for him watching his pressers. When other coaches have been beaten badly, they demonstrate some sense of "that's totally unacceptable" rather than the "I don't know" responses...It's not a good sign if other teams pick up on that. If they saw changes made, and results from those changes, they'd not be feeling sorry for anyone. If teams play against us with no fear, we're dead. We are so susceptible to pace that it's no longer a funny quirk of our team.

The sad thing is...I just looked at the remaining fixtures. I can only pencil in three more wins. One of those is Gold Coast, and notice I said pencil. There really are no certainties left in our draw. Our remaining home games will all be losses except perhaps Gold Coast and Adelaide (should Adelaide not continue to improve to where they were at late last year).

Transparency is essential for all footy clubs that are member voted. Unfortunately our club doesn't see fit to give the 50,000 odd members and say in the board. Most clubs, the members are stakeholders and the "owners" of the club.

Whilst their may be some secrecy surrounding match day stuff that needs to be kept inhouse, and perhaps if someone is playing through a niggle - however as a member we should be kept more informed.

In this day and age it is an absolute travesty that the fans aren't given reasons and information on the happenings of their club. Woosh your done. Thank you for the years. Your a legend go and enjoy retirement.

I will be borderline suicidal if they re-sign him at years end. Please if I dont post on the day if he re-signs please someone track my ISP and send an ambulance to my house.

It's "you're" TWICE

And no, I wouldn't bother.

Good post, I think worsfold does a fair bit of damage to fan relations. Its quite obvious through his actions that he doesn't value the supporters.

Must admit did get a good laugh out of Woosha's presser today.

Yes I read his comments. I remember the first 5 or so years he used to be open about things more and direct. I personally think the 2009-2010 years burned him with the constant pressure he got from the media and he doesn't act so good towards the media anymore. He is very cynical imo.

todays press conference was a rather weird one from woosha. He seemed rather deflated and finally started saying some stuff. However talking about players playing good form and what not I'm still lost for thought as to why brennan was dropped for selwood given his reasonings.

Im convinced he's gone at the end of the year, regardless of results. Just hasnt sounded at any stage like someone who is going to continue on. Been an absolute legend, all I hope for is it ends amicably for both parties (and that he doesn't end up down the road with his buddy Suma)

Throw the kitchen sink at Roos imo. Tactics win matches these days, and Roos is as good as anyone going around tactically. Healy on OTC a few weeks back actually out of the blue asked him about the WC job and he wasnt totally dismissive, as he had been about the Dees job. The opportunity to coach a player like NN would get the juices flowing for most coaches I reckon (plus a #*#load of cash)

Woosha is a bit like George Lucas.

He burst on to the scene with new ideas and a fresh outlook, (in football terms, cleared out the deadweight), going a different way from the status quo (Ken Judge) backed his instinct and convictions and presented the film industry (our footy club) with something pretty great to watch and be a part of.

And now...he's become the establishment. He's got no more new ideas. He's become what he fought against at the start...a holder of dead-weight (ideas and player wise).

Oh please make it so. Let the planets align...

People do go over the top with it but "you're" and "your" have different meanings and if people don't realise that then they should be told.

That and people saying loose instead of lose.

Off to Facebook with you...begone

I would be for that if Roos didn't try and implement the same game plan that he used at Sydney and that Lyon uses with Freo.

As I posted earlier, we don't have the side for it. Look at Sydney and Fremantle.

Both have an extremely good midfield with a lot of rotations. They have very few forwards that can't run through the middle. That is because that style of play requires players to run very hard defensively then sprint forward when ever they gain possession. There forward line is generally empty which would take away one of our biggest strengths.

It just doesn't suit our current list.

I think the idea of a new coach is to change the game style of a team that is losing. If that is the reason for a coach change. Otherwise what is the point.

If we have to change the personnel to win a flag so be it. God knows we are not going to win one from where we are at right now.

And I am sure Roos can handle having JK, Darling, NN and Lecras/Hill in our forward line. At least he would have different ideas about how to get the best out of them.

I never said we shouldn't change the game plan or that a new coach should stick to the same plan. I was listing reasons as to why the game plan that Roo's has used his entire coaching career won't be effective with our current list.

Would a retired coach that has stated he won't coach again be happy to come back and coach a side that requires a rebuild to play his style? Highly unlikely. Not to mention having to relocate.

Our problems aren't all over the field. We need quality midfielders and we need a fair few of them. I don't believe we need a complete rebuild. I think we need to add those players how ever possible and a new coach to implement a new game plan that more suits our strong forward line. Most importantly we need a good game day coach.

I get the feeling a lot of people on here think that bringing in Roos will make us an immediate contender again when it's highly unlikely.

Exactly! Kerr there and Glass noted it in his press conference http://www.westcoasteagles.com.au/news/2013-06-05/no-mondayitis that they are aware when they play shithouse... do you honestly not think that Woosha doesn't know it too? He doesn't have to say it in his press conference.. he never has and never will.. Of course he knows what we dished up wasn't good enough...

There is no doubt that the loss on Monday was extremely disappointing when there was so much riding on it, but people need to cut Woosha some slack.. its ridiculous how everyone acts like the sky is falling...

in 2014 we will have a different current list. Will it suit us then?

I can't see it changing significantly enough to suit that game style. Unless we trade out some of our quality forwards for quality midfielders and somehow add multiple other fit, ready made midfielders which I highly doubt.

Look at the difference in midfielders using Sydney and Freos teams from the weekend.

Sydney: O'Keefe, Kennedy, Jack, Hannebery, Jetta, Parker and McVeigh are all quality midfielders. Add to that young Tom Mitchell, Bird, McGlynn, Bolton and Goodes all having runs through the midfield.

Fremantle: Barlow, Fyfe, Mundy, Hill, Crowley, C.Pearce, D.Pearce, Suban, De Boer, Mzungu and even Ballantyne and Walters can run through the middle.

They both also have more depth in the middle that we do. Their midfields also have genuine leg speed to burst forward and take advantage of the open spaces that are opened up because they push so hard back.

It would require a massive turnover.
