Having Sumich back would be good just so we can win another derby. No doubt the bastard gave Freo every insight into our gameplan and uses it against us in the derbies. Be nice to have him back so we can dissect Freos gameplan and beat them for a change

It seems to me that the time is right for Woosh to move on. The rebuild after our 2007 dramas hasn't really worked and it was anticipated that their might be another dip when the last of our 2006 premiership players came to the end of their careers.

That dip is now and I don't know if Worsfold has it in him to build again. If he stays on then we need some new assistants around him to regenerate our thinking which may be necessary even if he goes.

I think he's cooked and needs a break from football, which is just an observation as an outsider without any real foundation but there is a spark lacking in the way we have gone about this season.

Hit the nail on the head I reckon KS.

Woosh has been a fantastic servant of the club, but 12 seasons is a hellava long time to coach one club. In the modern era, I'm not sure anyone else has done that bar Sheedy.

Of all current coaches, Worsfold is the longest serving at his current club and only Sheedy and Malthouse have coached more games.

Noone other than Sheedy has coached for longer at the one club in the modern era.

12 years is a long stint and it should be no surprise if he is feeling jaded and it is why it's important if he does stay on he needs new people around him - Sheedy did it at Essendon which is how he remained relevant. No offence to Worsfold but Sheedy also had a more creative football mind which allowed him to evolve more easily than I think Worsfold is capable of

Sumich has been overlooked quite a few times, gotta be a reason? Anyone rate him as a coach?

I think he would make a great senior coach. I would think the club would be best served having an outsider with no ties to any player on our list who isn't afraid to make tough decisions.

Arguably much of Sheedy's experience was not in the 'modern era'
Sheeds isnt coaching now in all reality.
After watching Mick on the weekend you have to wonder about him as well.

Yeah I guess I forgot how old I am - to me the modern era is what I've watched so I still count the early 80's as the modern era.

That said the rate the game evolves at now is mind boggling - tactics are outdated within a couple of years as coaches and their assistants seek to counter whatever succesful strategy comes along.
