despite some injuries, with the cattle we have there's few excuses for the way we started this season. i guess you can either argue that the buck stops with the coach or the players (or somewhere in between).

It's more his attitude this year and the impression he gives off that he doesn't want to be there. But there's a lot of frustrating things he doesn't do on the field.

Also think some of the players got ahead of themselves and believed the media hype of a top two finish before we'd played a game.

Knows a bit more than you do I would've thought.

Hmmm right.... experience on a player he doesn't match up well on and gets two kicked on him in the first ten minutes. Yep that's how its done. That's how you get experience.
Don't think until you have evidence.

Brown is our next full back, he must learn to handle key forwards - or be replaced by a trade. As we are out of the finals - now is the time to develop and test him. I think he will be ok.

Very much doubt that, he makes too many mistakes. Should've happened 12 months ago.

Woosha interview on ABC Sportstalk this morning. Some comments (from memory):

1. Woosha feels he can give 100%+ to job.
2. WCE has communication/planning meeting at seasons end and plan for the future.
3. He and Club not happy with the year as it panned out.
4. No mention of major list changes yet.Referred to the need to draft 3 new players and sounded happy with current rookies. I suspect upgrades may occur.
5. He was asked if WCE would/should target bigger bodied midfielders. Seemed to be comfortable with our 'best' midfield largely based on performance last year & Essendon game. I didn't get the impression WCE would be actively addressing Bigfooty's midfield concerns.
6. He and Embers would sit down at years end to determine future. Woosha indicated if margin between Embers and Cripps/Shepherd (replacements for Embers ?) then Embers may be encouraged to retire - that is my interpretation on this part of the interview.
7. Wooshe sees our draft priorities as another ruckman and key defender. More for 2/3 yrs time as backup post Cox/Glass. Happy with ruck stocks and sees Nic Nat & Lycett as key ruck moving forward (also mention Lycett as possible key forward). Happy with MacKenzie, Brown and Schofield as key defenders moving forward.

And then my memory ran out.

wait what!? another ruckman?

I'd be happy to rookie-list a long term ruck prospect, but surely we have to use our first couple of picks, at least, on midfielders.

Didn't get that impression - Woosha identified first choice midfield as being Nic Nat, Scooter, Wellingham, Schuey & Gaff. Support crew being Masten et al. Priddis didn't get a mention :)

But then Woosha could have just being evasive (even though he sounded very relaxed during the interview and wasn't his straight bat self) and throwing red herrings around the place.

I reckon Masten is a much better midfielder than Scooter. :rainbow:

Cheers. I'd be happy for Woosha to go and Roos to come in if that interview is the case.

The midfield problem and the fact that Woosha is so stubborn that he can't see the problem pisses me off to no end. The draft priorities for another ruckman and key defender are crazy as well.

I could see that final comment as either a) throw others off the scent or b) a hint that we may trade for a mid? (with what though??). You are right, he must have rocks in his head if he thinks this midfield can compete with the like of Sydney, Freo, Hawf, Pies and to a lesser extent, the Cats (I guess we will see tonight).

It's a mids draft isn't it? Kerr is closer to going than Glass/Cox too and we already have the next best ruck and full back in the comp with NicNat and Emac. Can't really see us going for anything other than a mid in the early rounds.

Not only do we lack top end midfield talent, we lack midfield depth.

I'll be very disappointed if we didn't supplement it with young mids. A KPD would be nice too.

Yep Geelong are a very good team, highly skilled, conditions suit etc. But wowee John Worsfold is just not a very good coach. God I hope the board aren't in denial.

Worsfold has no instinct, intuition or analytical ability as a coach. Particularly in big games. Really bad at working out tactics leading up to and during a game. Doesn't seem to have any nous for how to mentally prepare the squad for different oppositions. Ultimately he also should be held accountable for rubbish draft choices.

Why aren't players that make the same basic errors week in week out held accountable? Like Ash Smith's woefully lazy kicking. It's like the coach is scared to hurt the player's feelings.

How bad is Butler in slippery conditions?

Notice in the box how Phil Walsh was showing Worsfold matchups or something when Geelong were about 5-0 goals up? The look on Woosh's face was "I've got no idea what's going on here I am way out of my depth'.

PS: we beat the Bombers last week were not much better than witches hats.

John Worsfold must be sacked. Rant over.

Darling picks it up on the run, looks inside and has Kennedy who handballs to Lycett ... It's wet ... Your WCE forward line.

Where's the quick ground players? the mids getting there in support?

Then Woosh thinks, thinks, thinks .. and says "man up... "

It's like under 12's ...
